do dsg cars have paddle shift

Featured Replies

wondering if all dsg cars have the paddle shift or was it an option

Think only Standard on Vrs in the Octavia Range,

DSG Paddles are fitted only on vRs models

sorry guys it is a vrs

Mine came with them as standard but not sure if they did previously. Always wanted paddles and this is the first car i have had with them. They are great. Love the way when in "D" mode you can flick up and down at a corner if you want then hold it in to go back to full auto. On a country road the paddles are fantastic and then when the roads straightens out you simply leave it or hold it and your back in waft mode. Cant think of a better set up than this. All the control of a manual and the convienience of an auto, best of both worlds.

Drive the missus car a lot and every time i do it makes me appreciate autos even more. Round town a manual is just a total pain in the bum.

Bought my L&K with DSG box this year. Could have had paddles as an option with different MF steering wheel - about £400 I think. Didn't however but probably wish I had.

Interestingly the new Mazda CX5 which is getting excellent reviews and is not cheap has no option to have paddles on the auto because the company say "nobody uses them". I wonder if that is strictly true.

I wanted a CX5 but it was too expensive. Gonna cost me £26500 for the spec i wanted compared to £20000 for the VRS. No brainer. Really like them though and it has a very efficient auto box. Tried haggling with Mazda but because car was just out i got no where. I doubt i would be fussed about paddles in a SUV type of car but they work in the VRS. Would still prefer to have them though so at least you have the option to use them.

Test drove an 09 plate VRS DSG without paddles, just the auto gear knob. Think paddles came with multi function steering wheel. Was rubbish without them.

Mazda don't sell the CX5 here as a manual as they say no-one wants them. It's the "want what you are given" school of sales.

But it wasn't a problem, as soon as I saw a CX5 in the flesh I didn't want one any more. They can make anything look good in the brochures.

Eh they do offer a manual. In fact my local dealers couldnt get their hands on an auto for a test drive. They had several manuals in the showroom and as demo cars. The CX5 is lovely inside and a clever bit of kit. Great engine, very smooth and free revving and economical. Will definately consider one to replace missus's RAV 4 in a few years, when they are cheaper.

Yep I told him to head to mazda.co.uk and see the manual option for himself. But I'd given up by that stage, just another know-it-all salesman who couldn't be less helpful. They didn't even have a diesel auto to test-drive.

I didn't rate the interior at all, but I was comparing to a superb and for the same money, there is no contest.
