Sparkplug Question

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just wondering about checking ones sparkplugs. Is it ok to take one out and put it back in without changing the washer? If so, do i merely have to torque it more on reinsertion?

regards

Mark

AFAIK there is no need to replace the washer, and just tighten it up as much as it was before you removed it. I speak from experience on nothing newer than a "D" plate Astra, I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm talking out of my arse though .... ;)

Yeah, that's what i did. But in the process I broke my coilpack. It seemed to be bent a little and i tried to straighten it out. SNAP!

ARgh@@#*&!

Ouch! Bad news :(

Greg is right about sparkplugs. The washers are not replaceable. The torque for sparkplugs should be very low in an alloy head (around 14Lbft IIRC), basically not much more than hand tight.
