Exhaust Gas Pressure Sensor just been replaced

Featured Replies

I have a Yeti 4x4 140bhp model

LHD as I live in France - 18 months old and 20,000 kms

last week the warning light on the dash came on - would not rev over 1,500 rpm when in neutral but was OK on the road

I thought that it was the EGR value that was starting to get "blocked up" - but no it was a "pressure sensor" near the DPF - anyway that's the message I got from the service manager in Bordeaux.

Looking at the schematic of the system there is a DPF pressure sensor and two exhaust gas temperature sensors near the DPF - so I'm not sure which they replaced, (under warranty)

Anyone had this happen to their car?

The failure of this sensor is very common, early ones in particular seem to fail. later ones are now made by a different company entirely which seem to have less problems. I replaced the one on my now sold 2008 superb at the end of 2011 at 40,000 miles. My dad had the sensor on his 2009 Fabia replaced in June at 21,000 miles

Thanks

How did you know that it was a pressure sensor without going to the dealer?

as I said my first thought would have been to replace the EGR valve

Cheers

I have access to a copy of VCDS, and if you connect to the engine ECU you can see how full the DPF is, then force a regen which should reduce the soot loading seen by the engine as you drive. If there is no significant reduction it points to a failed sensor, since it is giving the wrong readings to the ECU. Total sensor failure will result in the engine light coming on, and a fault code logged against the sensor.

Our Skoda Yeti has done 20,000kms and we have had the problem of the gas pressure sensor. Also English, living in France. It spent 2 days at the dealership in Auch. They thought it was something to do with the contacts, seemed to have repaired it, but the warning light came on again the next day. It's a 300km round trip to the dealer so we won't bother going back.
