Of course I will post them upon my return on maybe Sunday depends what time I get back :)

....liking the darkened head, side and tail lights too!

The Elegance are the same, well the surrounds are, tails lights look standard to me.

I think they are darker buddy, the side repeater is distinctly darker and this goes in line with the black grille!

For 110 hp turbo with 6 gear semi-auto i would trade in three years time.

You can keep the semi-auto box I hear they can be lots of trouble! I think it looks cool though.

Interesting whilst at the dealers checking availablity the sports model was there (dealer didn't know anything about it)

No prices or specs though

Really? Not even listed by Skoda UK yet. Would have thought this was more likely a "normal" Citigo with a few of the sporty accessories added.

Indeed, dealer had no idea either (had to show her pics).

Though she did say that skoda load them up in advance before tell dealers about models. Rapid was there 6months before release (info from dealer).

Funny, doesn't even exist yet.

Funny, doesn't even exist yet.

I'd have thought it reasonably obvious that DH was referring the the semi auto box. And what really IS funny is that I drove one recently - so would seem to exist.

I thought the UP GT! that is getting the 110bhp engine (unlike the Citigo Sport, that's just a trim) was going to be a 6 speed manual anyway?

Was it 6 -six(!)- speed semi-auto?

I had read the UP! GT is a six speed manual.

How in the world could it have been a six speed? It was the standard ASGbox as fitted in the ASG Citigo as per the brochure. It's a standard box but with the electro-mechanical clutch mechanism...but surely you must know this?

Seems to a bit of confusion here.

The Sport can be bought with the basic 5 speed ASG box or 5 speed manual and the standard 75PS engine.

The VW GT UP! is planned to have the same engine with a turbo, producing 110(ish)PS and it will have a 6 speed manual.

I've never seen any mention of a 6 speed ASG / semi-auto for the Citigo Sport or any other Citigo model.

I think it's only our recently recruited friend with the unpronounceable handle that's confused. But, given he's ordered an ASG equipped vehicle I'd have thought he'd have researched the whole affair.

For me it's pretty clear where is the confusion.

The confusion keeps coming on forums and this forum from when people want to call an Automatic gearbox 'Semi Automatic' Automated Manual etc.

Its a 2 pedal car, and the gearbox works in an Automatic manner. ie Automatic Gear changes.

If they want something that they think functions better and thats a Twin Clutch box like a DSG, then if they say that that would be clear and less confusing IMO.

but,

then some are pedantic and like to point out that a DSG is not an Automatic.

2 pedals,

throttle and brake and no 3rd pedal, ie clutch to press is 'Automatic' enough for most buyers and owners to understand.

We can talk about Servo Clutches and manual gear changes etc & different types of Automatic over the eras.

Press the Gearstick down type thing.

'ASG' Basic and changes gear without (edit) the user needing to change gear, seems simple enough.

DSG does the same kind of thing.

Both still let you change gear manually, neither gives you a clutch to press to do that.

Its Magic.

Well, now I will admit to being confused....insofar as I thought motoring forums such as this were the place where vaguely interested and, perhaps enthusiastic individuals discussed motoring or car related topics in slightly greater depth than might be encountered on Mumsnet.

So bods might want, for example, to dig a little deeper in to the various types of automatic transmission...ie. torque converter boxes, CVT, DSG, ASG....all of which are, in my opinion, different, have different driving characteristics and an assortment of pros and cons. If it's pedantic to distinguish between these different types of automatic transmission, then call me a pedant.

George, you have written....

You surely meant to say 'without'. Or am I being pedantic? [ EDIT...Now Changed :-) ]

Whether it's magic or not depends upon one's interpretation of the mystical qualities associated with the concept of magic.

(The latter being an attempt at mild humour).

ta,

edited to 'without'.

'Its Magic' said in a 'semi' Paul Daniels type voice.

(That's magic)

Mumsnet might well have more up to date and & current information on the upcoming vehicles and technology of VAG vehicles than that gleaned from Auto Express and some other Motoring Media or forums,

never actually been on there.
