Service price indication

Featured Replies

I'm about to send my Octavia vRS (2.0 TFSi, 57-reg) for its first service since I owned it. Currently on 62,000 miles and probably needing the works looking at the service history and schedule.

What sort of price should I expect for:

- major service (although it apparently had spark plugs and air filter element changed at 50k miles so perhaps a minor service would do)

- cambelt + water pump (which I realise is a little late for 4 years but not too bad for 60k miles!)

I gather from this forum, replacing the water pump at the same time as the cambelt is generally considered a good idea. Should I expect a good garage to suggest this if I don't mention it, agree to do it if I ask, or say it isn't necessary? Presumably this may add around £50 over not doing it.

Thanks!

Cambelt is £299, cambelt and waterpump is £369...

These prices are still negotiable though so shop around and bargain hard.

This is of course assuming you will be using a Skoda main dealer.

A good VAG indy should be a good chunck cheaper.

Just make sure they use genuine parts (a full cambelt kit inc. rollers and tensioners) and not just a new belt.

If the car is a 'keeper' doing the waterpump at the same time is a no-brainer.
