08 VRS tfsi engine squeak on startup?

Featured Replies

My VRS seems to have developed a squeak from the engine (around the lower front methinks?) every time I start the car. It does it only as its turning over and goes as soon as its running. Once out on the road, again it runs sweet.

I could sit there turning it on and off, and it would squeak everytime not getting any worse.

I'm not sure its a belt, as they make a distinctive squeal sound. It sounds more like somethings dry (bearing, pulley.....?)

Any ideas guys?

FYI its an 08' with 68k

Cheers,

S.

Sounds like a pulley or belt, i had a transit connect with the same noise it was the lower pulley that was drying up would squeak in the morning then all day made a rumbling noise louder than the old TDCI engine it had lol.

Water pump. Mine did exactly same, noise stops as it warms up. Had it replaced then noise stopped.

It could be the starter motor pinion sticking.

On mine it still does it whether its warm or cold?

After a reasonably 'spirited' drive, I could stop the engine, re-start it and it would still do it.......

Hmmm.....
