Featured Replies

went to the trade car auction yesterday

looking round the cars i noticed a 2010 60 plate Octavia tdi

i looked at the info on the screen and it said 14000 miles 1 stamp in service book ex main dealer

anyway

after driving a 1.6 tdi i decided that if it was cheep i might have a go at it

well i ended up buying it

when i got the car and checked everything i have noticed the following

the service stamp is from last year and was done at a Renault garage

the service indicator is saying 12000 miles to next service

on the sticker it says it is variable servicing

i have the 6 cd Bolero head unit

it mutes the raidio when i press the phone button

it was registered for a month to a Skoda dealer then it changed owners to the previous owner so i must now be the 3rd

i am so far happy with the car but could do with some advice please guys

1/ should i register myself with Skoda so they know i have it so can be contacted for any recalls/campaigns?

2/ will i have the 3rd year of warranty?

3/ im thinking of getting a genuine fuel filter and oil and changing the oil is it worth it?

4/ is it possible to put bluetooth & satnav on the Bolero?

if its too hard would a Columbus from the ebay guys fit straight in and work? i dont have the multi function steering wheel

there are also these from ebay that say they will work

You said you went to a 'trade car auction', so you knew what you were buying.

2x $64,000 question. is.

'how much did you pay', 'did you get a bargain?'

george

I can only really answer numb 3 with a massive YES!!!, genuine oil and genuine filter and set to either fixed or variable.

The phone button does just mute/pause the audio unless you have the bluetooth installed.

Bluetooth can be added to the bolero but sat nav would require a columbus.

A columbus will fit but you need to change the fascia.

Yes i would change the oil/filters

is it a big / expensive job to add the bluetooth and how involved is it

will a columbus just plug & play?

cheers for the answers guys

Im not overly familiar with fitting the bluetooth but I believe that it can be 'plug and play' with the correct wiring. I you do a search, you should be able to find some info.

The columbus plugs straight in but may need coding. Mine worked without, but to get complete integration with the maxidot etc you will probably have to code it. Likewise, if it came from a car with an external amplifier, you would need to have it re-coded with vag com.

They're not cheap but are well worth the money in my opinion.

If I thought I'd got a bargain I'd be keen to boast about how much I'd paid/saved :giggle:

Make sure it has VW 507.00 on the label. As it has a DPF you need the long life fully synthetic 5W30 low ash oil.

IIRC, the warranty booklet that you will find in the owner's manual folder has a card that can be sent to Skoda UK to transfer the warranty. Skoda will send a letter back telling you the warranty has been transfered to you.

If there were a recall, Skoda would use the DVLA database to find you.

Ditto to the above or just let your nearest dealers know and they can upload all the details.

Slightly curious that it's not been to an actual skoda dealer for a service.

Are you happy that the mileage is genuine?
