all season tyres

Featured Replies

i have been looking around and these 2 tyres look good

Hankook OPTIMO 4S H730 205/60 R15 91H

or

Vredestein Quatrac 3 205/60R15 91 H

my rears are very good

the fronts are useless due to damage last night

i would want to put them on now especially as i work funny hours so could be coming home or going to work at 3am any night

i would then just run them all the time until worn

i may do 2 or 3 miles on snow coming out of where i work then onto gritted roads and motorways

i have found myself in a position where i need 2 front tyres anyway because my brother went to a wedding in my car yesterday and some little scrote put broken bottles under all the car tyres in the car park

i have ended up putting 2 part worn (3mm) on the front to get the car home last night but dont trust them

my thought is instead of getting 2 new tyres now then some winter ones in a month or so i can put all season tyres on and that solves my problems

any advice or help greatly appreciated

oh and yes the little scrote was caught by the police and they say he comes from a poor family in the area and getting them to pay will be impossible and seeing he is only 9 they wont be pressing charges :wonder:

through reading here and other online reviews i have ordered 4 new Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons for £285.20 delivered

i dont think that is a bad price at all

I'd like to know how you find them. I'm looking at the Hankook H727's as an all-season tyre. The 4S is an alternative. I'd have to import them, they don't sell any decent all-season tyres in my country.

they were ordered from mytyres so will come into the UK from Europe

they should be here within 3-4 working days

i will let you know how they get on when i have them fitted

I have a feeling it's too late but.

For the last few years we have a pair of Vredestein Quatrac 2 tyres on the front of my mums 1.9TDI Fabia, and last year bought Quatrac 3s. The Quatrac 2 were very good in snow (skinny 185 tyres helps). I can't really tell you how good Quatrac 3s are in snow as we didn't really have chance to test them this year, however we have no complaints in the cold and wet. We normally rotate tyres every year, putting them on the rear for summer, although this year we've left them on the front.

is a tad late for me but anyone else searching will be able to read it

i will post when these arrive and tell what i think

I've just fitted 2 new Goodyear F1 Asymmetrical 2 225-40-R18 -92Y for my VRS octavia and I'm very very very impressed. Bought them from Camskill online and they were delivered the next day.

Yeah good for you, but as they're not all season tyres, not much good in this thread.

Ran the Goodyear 4season on my lads now replaced Fabia I classic; we were pleased with their performance throughout the year and have no hesitation recommending them.

His newer Fabia II 1 trim will however run full winters in place of the summer tyres it came with on a second set of steels.

Probably just getting a backlog of orders as Europeans get ready to switch later this month to winter pattern.

Had two lots of tyres from them in the last three years and both sets arrived in a week, however the winter tyre and rim package now that did take a little while but to be expected, oh and yes their call centre could be better. Also used both camskill and openeo and likewise arrived promptly.

As TP says, I wouldn't worry, they get really busy at this time of year. I ordered my winter tyres about this time last year, and they took about 2 weeks to arrive.

im not worried about them ripping me off

im annoyed that their customer service is so bad

also the fact i called and asked if they were in stock because the part worns i have on the fronts are rubbish(legal but not that good) and i was told they were and they would be depatched Monday

its now Thursday and they are still in Germany

i have called and asked to speak to the manager but was told "he doesn't speak to customers"

i was told he will answer emails

i have emailed to speak to him and had no reply

the customer service is appaling

i dont mind waiting if i am told

Gay.

I ordered from Oponeo on the Monday, tyres were here on the Friday. Email at despatch stage with details and again when delivered.

Win.

A one word response which should probably have read something more like, "Sounds like you're having some problems there and they've been getting some flack the past few weeks. I think Oponeo are much better."

  • 2 weeks later...

I run 195/45 R 16 Hankook Optimo 4S on another car and I'm very pleased with them. Unfortunately they don't do them in 18" and their 17“ option is a 235/45 R 17 which is just a bit too wide for the 7J Proteus wheels on the Octavia Scout. Fortunately I've just got some 7.5J wheels mounted with budget tyres for refitting with the Optimos next winter.

In the meantime I'm using Maxxis MAZ4S on the Proteus wheels fitted to a TT. Although quattro its more for cold/wet conditions than snow so I'm happy with this compromise.

The Hankooks are undoubtedly better in snow as well, and according to AE better than many winter (snow) tyres.

I have just fitted Hankook Optimo all season tyres on my Superb. 225/45/17. We haven't had any snow or crap like that (thank god),but we have had a lot of rain and wet weather and I am impressed with the tyres so far. They are able to deal with standing water much better than summer tyres and no aqua planing, even at high speeds. They are quiet on the road also.

Thanks for that. Are these the Optimo 4S or another model code?

Yep, Optimp 4S

So far I would recommend them athough its still early days.

JB

Optimo 4S is available in 225/50 R 17 for Octavi Scout from European suppliers, but no Stapletons in the UK yet.
