Hi im in need of a gear box for my 52 plate vrs.

Can i use a box out of something else if so what? thanks for your time to read this, any help will be appreciated

its an 02j gearbox you need, tho as i understand there are different ratios that you can have depending on the model of car you get the 02j box from, lots of golfs, leons as well as other vag models have these.

I don't think we have any 02J boxes in stock but you could always look at doing an upgrade to the 6-speed 02M gearbox? Not quite a straight fit but all can be done with good s/hand parts that I believe we have on the shelf!

i have found one with this number 02j 301 103 it says its from a 2001 2.0l golf gti will this work?

Gearbox in my 03 vrs is an 02j EHA if it helps

The golf transmission will bolt straight on, however the internal gear ratios / final drive ratio maybe different and result in the car having higher or lower revs at a given road speed.

i have found another that is 02j ecw from a golf 1.8t it says it has a lsd would this be correct?

According to my elsawin, that box is fitted to the 150hp version, so presumably there would be ratio adjustment in the box, probably final drive, which may be why it has an lsd, as i cannot tell for sure if the lsd is oem fit. Maybe the seller chose to up the drive ratio while fitting the lsd?

don't think its an lsd like a peloquin, or quaife, especially not on a 150bhp model.
