Rear doors

Featured Replies

Yes, it's the the rainy season and the rear doors are leaking... I plan to pull them apart and do the sealant round the inner this weekend, if it is dry...

However, what actually causes the leak, is it blocked drainage holes in the bottom of the door, poor design, or something else? And is there any way to improve drainage rather than just create a bigger pocket for the water to collect in?

Cheers,

Adam

I did a search.

The question was if there was anything else I could do to help, like clear drainage holes, drill extra etc?

check the drainage holes at the bottom of the door, the actual problem is the seals around the carrier, there like a foam substance and arent very tight to the door so they leak threw there.

No....you have to reseal the door carrier with sealant...preferably a water curing sealant like plumbers gold. Simples.

Drain holes aren't usually the problem, otherwise the door would be full of water.

The problem is the way that water runs off the bottom of the window, then drips onto the carrier. The first place it gets to is the lip of the carrier and into the seal. Unless it's thoroughly sealed, then it will work its way though.

The problem is even worse if you park on a kerb and the car is then at an angle as it will go onto the carrier even more.
