Help needed - Update Columbus on Superb II

Featured Replies

I have just purchase a used Skoda Superb II 2.0 Estate Elegance trim. First registered 17/06/2010.

My phone (Galaxy 2) doesn't work with it and the maps only accept a 4 digit postcode. I have spent as much time as possible on this forum but have been getting very lost. I understand that to solve both of my problems I need to update the firmware. To do that I need to know what the current version is. To do that I need to access the Secret Menu. Unfortunately my version is obviously too old as I just get the AM/FM Radio options and nothing else.

So can someone tell me what my next step should be? Is my only option to get the dealer to upgrade it? If so how much should I expect to pay?

I have already paid too much that I could afford for the car and slightly worried about having to shell out further!

Many thanks in advance and sorry if this has already been asked a hundred times - I did search - honest!

Look in the VCDS owners map for someone near you who can run a scan on your car and then activate the secret menu. It's a 5 min job (including scan).

From there you will know what you have got.

Firmware might need updating (but this is available for free via links on My GTI website) but it might just be that you have an old version if the maps (pre-v.7)

The only legal route to new maps is via the dealer or a few online sites or from someone who doesn't need them anymore (but if they still have the maps installed it would be in breach of the EULA).

I have VCDS & know working copies of firmware and, if you are anywhere near Worcester / Hereford, I could help you out.

2 things. Firstly thanks for the quick and informative reply. Secondly - I am between Ledbury and Tewkesbury! so if you are willing I would love to take you up on the kind offer. Should only be a 20 min drive in my nice new(ish) car!

No problem.

I'm pretty close to Bromyard if that helps you work out timings.

I'm not going to be down your way until mid-November. Sorry.

With regards to your phone not working, that will be down to the Bluetooth module under the drivers seat. Get it out and PM me the part number off the box and I'll see if I can come up with a solution to that issue before we meet.
