obviously i have connected the REM, +12v and GND

so is this something im doing wrong or not?

thanks for any help in advanced! :)

You have power going to the live and its properly earthed? There's power going to the remote? The amp setting on the radio is turned on, some stereos don't have this.

Noticed only one lineout connected? You can connect 2 lineouts and bridge the output to the sub.

right yep it has a proper earth remote and live there is no amp setting on the stereo im using a RCA converter on one of the rear speakers which i have tested all these wires using my built in sub and amp and they work perfect.

oh i forgot to say the amp turns on as well

yes i have one input how would i go about bridging it?

the converter is capable of converting both sides so i can connect up the other side then

See the line that goes from + on one side to - on the other? That's how you bridge it.

Does that mean the stereo doesn't have any preouts at the back?

Never used a converter, either k stereo with preouts or an amp that accepts speaker wire inputs.

Sounds to me You're not getting an input from the headunit. Reckon not enough feed is getting to the amp, I think preouts from the headunit is measured in volts?

Isn't the high input for connecting straight from speaker output in you have no phono output ?

Yeh the four way plug next to the phono inputs.

but if my built in sub and amp i have works in there surly it is getting a good input

Have a go with some input into the plug and see if the amp works.

Ok I've just checked my old amp that I had connected to the stereo and I've found I used the hi level plug. Here's a pic

You need to connect both left and right channels to the high level input, if you don't the sound could be very strange. For example you are listening to a track where the bass is moving from the left to right, in this case one minute the sound will be lovely and have lots of bass, then as the sound moves across to the other channel you get nothing at all. This can be a bass guitar, or a drum roll moving between channels.

Turn the LPF switch off to start with. This will prevent bass sounds being sent to the subwoofer.

The right hand speaker wire should go to the next one along to make most of the amp from bridging the two channels.

Both inputs should be plugged in, even though you only have one speaker.

If no joy at this point you need to test that power is reaching the amp and the remote wire with a multimeter. Make sure the ground is connected to a good ground. There's a factory one which is ideal behind the carpet in the boot on passenger side.

If you want to test the "remote power on " just slap a wire from the positive to it ... I ran mine in my Landrover like this for months.
