Brilliant Octavia rear light cluster design

Featured Replies

Just recently, I have been looking at the rear light clusters of modern cars (under 5 years old), and a lot of them are IMO pretty bad.

We were following an Audi A3 last night, and the rear lights seemed OK, until he braked and then turned left - without indicating, or so I thought initially. He was indicating, but the lights were very indistinct, as was the difference between the rear lights and brake lights.

On the way back home, we could see another Octavia about 100 yeards ahead of us in the inside lane, and at that distance, we could clearly see him indicate to come off the mororway, and then start braking as he reached the top of the slip road.

So, does anyone else reckon that the Octavia rear light clusters are among the best out there?

I find some Golfs with a tiny little clear indicator lense (2005 mk5?) , and especially the VW Passat and Jetta's when the sun is directly on the lights you can't see them indicating at all!

So there you are following a car thinking what an idiot and they actually are indicating!

yes i think the octavia lights must be one of the best ive had,

Some of the new ford lights are appallingly bad..you can't see if they are braking/turning or both!

My old 5 series i upgraded the rear lights to the facelift LED's absolutely amazing in dark wet winter nights, The new A6 rear lights... OMG Stunning!!!!

Audi A3 rear lights look smart but the indicators are stupidly small.

Placing them inside the LED tail lights makes them pretty much invisable when braking, DOH!

Always thought that with the new Polo, so much so that it stayed off of the short list that was drawn up for my Mums replacement motor.

I feel they're dangerous-if you can't see when a car is braking it (say, in bright sunlight), it wouldn't take much for someone to end up in the back of you.

I don't like the Passat rear indicators, surrounding the brake lights

It's a no no

Tiguan reverse lights, anyone?

How the a3 passed any tests I dont know, the indicators are soooooo small.

I was always told Audi drivers don't need/use indicators :)
