suggestions to replace galaxy note

Featured Replies

Ive had my galaxy note since February but its got to the point where I can't deal with the rubbish battery life. Today it came off charge at 8:30am and by 15:00 it was at 8% with a bit of use of the net, maps and 3 emails. It isn't a one off instance either. O've had enough and I'm going to get rid. I now have an ipad too so I dont need the big screen either.

It will have to be sim free so I dont want to spend loads but I do want great internet, good screen and camera. Not a blackberry or iphone and I need something with battery life...

Have you tried buying higher capacity batteries? Got 2 off amazon for my s2 for around 15 quid which included a charger.

They last loads longer and as I have 3 batteries now I can last a couple of days with high use. Would be loads cheaper than buying a new phone?

I had that and a software update improved things hugely.

That was on an s2

My Galaxy S2 would be at 30% by the time I go those from work with very little use. Have you tried a full restoration? Installing a new OS (ICS in this case) over the top of existing apps etc can cause funny issues.

Having said all of that, I recently got am S3 for work and get two days out of it if needed. Best phone I've ever had.

Which Note do you have (German, UK etc.) and which OS are you running? That doesn't sound right at all batterylife wise, I have a German Note on the latest official Samsung release and while batterylife has dipped since the ICS upgrade it still normally makes it through the day with heavy use.

Mines currently on 62%. Had Bluetooth on all day minor txting etc. look at Anker batteries, I've got standard plus Anker and Samsung battery charger. Pop one on charge whilst using the other. Check out xda developers for tips etc. check ya apps running, turned loads off etc and get more juice.

Sent from my GT-N7000

I did a full reinstall after the ICS update as it had to go away for repair (charging connection loose) I have used power saving mode and also switched it off and it made little difference.

I will take a look at extra batteries but in this day and age should I really have to carry a spare battery around?

Battery itself could be the problem if its discharging when switched off

I never use power saving mode, and can last a day and a half at the min. get cpu spy from google play and that'll show you if its ever going into deep sleep mode when your charging. Do you put it in flight mode when charging at night? also alarms stop it from deep sleeping so battery is always in use. facebooks was the killer on mine and with data. delete that for a cppl off days and see

If you have an iPad, why not consider the iPhone??

All your contacts, calendar items, Internet bookmarks will 'sync' across to the iPhone if you have an iCloud account which is free!!!!

Also when removing charge make sure phone is unlocked. Apparently a minor bug on new Samsungs

Would you believe that when switching android phones the Google account does exactly the same for free to!!!!

No I didn't know that, thank you Raf_. :)

I didn't know myself till I got the s3, signed in with my gmail account, next thing I knew all my contacts and calendar stuff were on the new phone!

Do check xda development. Also 360degree panoramic camera.

Sounds like an app. Facebook or Twitter can kill batteries if you're on the default 15min updating

Well today I have had it off charge since 9am and at 21:30 it is sitting at 40% it hasnt had much use but it seems to have improved by completely flattening the battery and charging from complete empty. Will see how it goes. I would have an iphone but sim free we are talking a lot of £££...

Sounds like something is not right with the battery to me, I get a day of pretty heavy use out of mine. I do not use power save mode and the phone is paired with a bluetooth headset or the car all day. I also spend most of the day on the move, so the phone is continually swapping between varoius masts. The only thing I did change was the screen brighness. When I first had the phone, the battery life was a bit limited, so I adjusted the brightess down a little, and leave it on auto brightness, but that may have been a result of the battery only being on it's first charge cycle. Completely flattening the battery a couple of times to stretch it, then giving it a long cahrge can help, but IIRC, a Samsung original new battery is only around £13 if yours does not come fully back to life.

Would you believe that using a Google account is cross-platform!

iPhone can sync to BlackBerry can sync to MacOSX can sync to Windows can sync to Android!
