Turbo actuator replacement

Featured Replies

The diaphragm on my actuator split so I got a replacement from VW, want to replace it today but how the hell do you get to the bottom nut of the actuator? I took the air pipe between the turbo and air feed off to get access but I don't have any tools that could actually get at the nut'

Any suggestions are much appreciated, I don't fancy having to pay a mechanic to do a job which in fairness seems relatively easy to do!!

Cheers

Dave

I'm wondering how common a fault this is, as it happened on my turbo about 3 weeks ago, the dealership fitted a whole new Turbo under warranty rather than replacing the actuator.

we have a special tool, its a deep 10mm socket that is split up the side so you can feed it on.

Fitting it is the easy part, adjusting it can be a touch tedious depending on h good your vacuum pump is. Holding it at the correct reading and doing the nut up can be fun.

they will probably get that claim rejected then as there is a repair kit and they dont normally pay for a new turbo now

So it's not just as simple as fitting it? What adjustment is needed?

(I don't suppose you sell said special tool?)

No you cant just fit it. It requires adjustment and you need to have the movement sensor in measure block values us and set it to the correct position.
