Grrr. Kerbed alloy and damaged tyre. Was it the dealer?!

Featured Replies

Not a happy bunny!

My vRS Fabia is a whole 5 weeks old, and is my pride and joy. I have wanted one since they came out, having been a patriotic Skoda owner since I passed my test in 2000! Hence I am extremely careful, always think about where is safest to park etc. However, when washing it today I noticed that my front drivers side alloy is scuffed and a small chunk of tyre missing :finger:

Now I have driven so carefully and have certainly not nudged any kerbs etc. Could this have happened by any other means? Pothole maybe

If this isn't possible then I'm going to take it up with my dealer, as they had my car for a whole day and did atleast 7 miles in it (Still on Trip 1 display.), and they are the only people other than me to drive the car. It was washed the day before it went to the dealers as I don't like other people washing my car! As I clean the alloys with a toothbrush, I think I'd have noticed an almighty scuff on the wheel!

Don't know what to do really. I guess I'll need to get it refurbed (any ideas on cost anyone?). I'll also get the spare and damaged tyre swapped. Might go and speak to my dealer about it, but want to remain on good terms with him...

My tyres are the Bridgestone Turanza, and don't hve rim protectors...

Rant over.

In my case, it was my own fault... :( Gonna try and touch up some damage at the weekend.

Complain to the dealer - they might just refurb it for free for you??

Ask to see the job card for the work carried out on your car. On the back should be a damage report form, any damage toy uor vehicle should be noted before the car is taken from you or the techie takes it into the workshop. If its filled out/signed as no damage then its happened afterwards. If its on there then they are in the clear.

I think I will query the damage with the dealer, but tbh I don't really see them being all that helpful! I don't want to fall out with them, but its not on that my wheel has been damaged.

I live in the Fens and the roads are particularly poor. Could this have happened due to hitting a pothole or something? The tyre is also damaged.

I will get the tyre from the spare swapped with the damaged one (the car's only done 3k, so no worries about tread depths etc). How much would an alloy repair cost?

Alloy repair would cost about
