green gunk in crank case breather

Featured Replies

Was in engine bay earlier and thought to take the plastic black cover off there is a breather pipe which connects to t the air filter I found like a green gunk in the pipe so I I squeezed the bottom of the pipe and managed to get load of this crap out why is this happening does anyone know or would this indicate a problem my engine is the aub type

Have you looked in the coolant resevoir lately?

does the pipe come from crank case to the airbox and do you do short journeys?

Yeah it does some times I do short journeys but I do mainly long journeys as I work 26 miles away

No whys that kiddy

might be normal if short journeys engines create condensation and it doesnt get warm enough people will say head gasket failure but only if there is water on dip stick or coolant is a nasty oily colour or losing coolant

Mine did it all the time, it would smoke if disconnected while running too. Think it's quite common though. On my Polo (same engine block, different internals) it's spotless though, so don't know why the Fabia engine is bad for it.
