chinese Turbos? also after some info...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

right I am at whits end now trying to find a turbine housing and the only one I found new is from £200. for that you can buy a chinese turbo and just use the housing?

what is it that goes on the chinese ones?

I am trying all avenues here as I am not confident allowing it to go back to the seller for him to sort by a mate who builds hybrids it as a hobby?

I would rather get a good housing and claim money back via Pay Pal for the work to be done, even if I have to put some money in to it. I want it doing right.

I have picked out some on the bay of E that say they are mint and dont have cracks, I am emailing the sellers to get pics. all being well one will be good.

Snow Muncher, are you selling yours?

I have had emails off the seller today wanting the turbo back and saying it will be sorted, but, I replied instantly asking how long it would take and what cost it was if he didnt mind saying and all went quiate. I am really getting worried of being screwed over but at the same time dont want to put a claim in on PP so I get naf all from him or even offend him.

Whats the thoughts?

Thanks for your oppinions and info

one more thing, is it worth having the manifold and turbine housing sent off for ceramic painting?

Billy, when you see the cost to have things ceramic coated it wont be worth it. sorry cant help on the others.

Billy I'd steer well clear of the Chinese turbos if I were you. I'm sure there were people on uk-mkiv's a few years ago who had horror stories from chancing it with Chinese turbos.

Buy cheap & buy twice.

Lol i wont be using it

Just want the casing off it.

Know a guy running an ebay turbo at 500bhp (obviously a little bigger than a ko3s) and has been going strong for a year now :o

im with jase.. my pal runs a ebay turbo on his scoob.. thats over 400bhp and hes had it for well over 2 years now

Lol i wont be using it

Just want the casing off it.

I have no hands-on experience with thsi, but if you are going to be using the housing, i'd ask what it is made of, what temps, pressure it can handle.

CNC?

Surface polished?

what level of hardning did it undergo?

Nick @ Rtech has mapped a couple running 400+ and has been on car for years and its abused big time

Maybe I should Cnc some ??

What?????

From what I can remember it was the case castings that were failing on the cheap Chinese turbos.

Just want the casing off it.

That's the most important part - its an explosion containment vessel

A KOx is has roughly the explosive protential of a something like a hand grenade (Mill's bomb type, not a weedy moderned jobbie)

A 400hp chinese turbo - that's like driving round with an un-exploded mortor round strapped to your bulkhead

Time index 1:41 and onwards: holset vs china

Mmm

So if thats the case then why does borg warner not make replacement housings then?

They are doing themselves out of trade imo.

I bet they do.

They just want you to buy a complete new turbo

Sounds just like dealing with Brembo dealers tbh

Just can't be arsed for the business it seems
