Delivery time 5-6 months on Citigo

Featured Replies

Ordered a couple of citigos elegances on the 14th September. Both white but 1, 3-door and 1, 5-door.

Having chased the dealer - I am told:

5-door delivery 1st week of November (estimated). Thats about 8 weeks lead-time.

3-door BUILD date of january. That means at least february for delivery. Thats between 5 and 6 months lead-time.

For a 'commodity' i.e. non-specialist car? Am I being unreasonable asking dealer for cancellation terms?

This is very long. I went into Mercedes today and enquired about a C63 and they said it would take three months. Compared to the time and model you have been quoted this is outrageously good. I'd be taking my business elsewhere if possible.

i had to wait 5 months for my eleggance fabia

What do you expect for an "in demand" car.

I bet the discount on a C63 is more than the cost of a Citigo!

Satisfy yourself with the fact that stong demand = strong resale value.

Try Seat and VW to see if they can deliver quicker.

:D lol

I had a 5 & a half month ( over 24 weeks would have been £300 ) wait for My Octavia vRS, & got £150 choice of either M&S voucher, or money towards service.

I Would speak to SUK customer service & ask if they are doing compensation for delivery delays ?

The 8 week car is probably because there was a build slot for an identical vehicle there already that had not been claimed by a dealer, or something like that.

I ordered quite early and got 12 weeks, but since then times have incresed a fair bit.

To me waiting 5 or 6 months for an in demand car seems normal.

My Yeti took 7 months and my wife's petrol one was 4 months.

Her first one (same petrol engine) when the Yeti was quite new was 6 months.

It's supply and demand.

My dealer did indicate that the 2 month wait car was a 'manufacturing slot we've already got' and that they would just switch the trim. So agrees with Richard,

Octy vRS 170CR's comment also seems to fit re lead-time and SUK. My Dealer 'panicked' a bit when I asked for cancellation terms and stated that they already had a meeting scheduled with Skoda and asked me to wait until this friday (tomorrow)

.

I've considered Briskodian's comment re VW and Seat but, for VW, been a bit put off by other thread comments that VW dealers are very arrogant and dismissive of the 'bottom-end' cars! Never-the-less, I will do a ring-a-round after my (Skoda) dealer updates me from their meetings.

As to compensation, the DEALER has an issue as he has guaranteed the trade-in value of both of our cars and they depreciate ! I suspect that they are not happy either.

I 'hear' what people say re wait time for an 'in-demand' car but a six-month wait does NOT 'fit-in' with it being a mass car. They will loose sales to people who just want to get about in a cheap/efficient car. This CANNOT be an acceptable manufacturing strategy and, unfortunately, reminds me of the 70's when British cars were not only poor quality but very slow to manufacture.

With the possible exception of off-plan houses, what other commercial mass-produced product has a regular lead time of approaching 6 months or more?

True, but what other commerical mass-produced product comes in a user definable choice of options with many thousands of possible combinations of trim, colour, engine, extras etc...

This is why you can usually get a "stock" Citigo within a month or two, as the factory does build basic versions with no options for the dealers to sell to people in a rush that don't want a custom build.

When I ordered our red Citigo I could have had the same car with no options within three weeks.

Indeed. Never had to wait for a car. Either purchase the demo...there's always one somewhere, or take what's immidiately available. Never been that fussed or picky on specification.tbh.

Briskodian, please correct me if I am wrong but I remember being told that, after the chassis (3-door, 5-door), Engine and trim (colour) were fitted at the factory to make the 'elegance' model, all other options were added by the dealer - i remember this as I have ordered extra speakers, amongst other matters, and he said they have never fitted them before.

SO, accepting that there are a large number of permutations, it's not that large with all trim options beyond the model spec being dealer fitted.

I suspect the manufacturing strategy is simply one of minimum cost - understandable. After all, it's far, far cheaper to loose the (small) margin on a relatively small number of cars that get cancelled due to the large lead-times than 'tool-up' the factory to make more.

That would change if more of us cancelled our orders with large lead-times.

The optional extras are factory fit.

Speakers, cruise control, parking sensors, sunset glass etc... are not dealer fit options that I am aware of.

Otherwise they would be listed in the accessory brochure with the stripes and black wheels which the dealers put on.

There are exceptions, like the towbar and mats on other cars.

But with the Citigo everything with a price in the main brochure is factory fit and the extra bits with no prices (like the black wheels and sill protectors) are dealer fit with prices listed in the accessory brochure.

One member on here did buy a car without the extra speakers because the dealer said they'd fit it.

When the car arrived they said they couldn't...

The main exception on the Citigo is the PID.

It does not come with the car (even on the Elegance) and the dealer has to order it in seperately.

Plenty New & Ex Demo or low mileage vehicles available in the UK.

Just on Autotrader there show as,

45 Citigo, 71 Up!, & 99 Mii.

We will only know how they hold there prices once a few Private purchase ones go back for sale in the Dealerships or by private sales.

So if you're not overly fussy about having some of their expensive extras fitted in the factory, you could have one tomorrow!!

I rather think that a manufacturer of a car that is in demand would prefer to lose the odd customer than have a field full of built cars going rusty, as used to happen in the 70's, 80's and 90's!

Over a week later than promised, the Dealer came back to me - well, my wife actually - scared of me? - and confirmed that after two meetings with Skoda, a 3-door citigo elegance ordered on 14th September has an estimated delivery date of last week in february. That's a lead-time of 24 weeks.

To 'up' the anti, I have just asked him

xxxxxx,

Thanks for the update - via xxxxx - today on lead times.

Mulling over options for 'my' order.

What would be earliest dates for any citigo elegance (any door option)?.

(It looks like the full irony of my wife choosing 'my' preferred colours/trim yet she getting it is about to be fulfilled.)

Greg.

Spoke to a friend who is Sales Manager at the local Peugeot dealership, and he says their average delivery date across the range is now 19 weeks, and the more "bits" you want or the stranger the colour the longer you'll wait. No manufacturer now builds models "for stock".

Nissan have been quoting 30 weeks for some X Trails.

Skoda Salesman never even bothered to reply to email from Tuesday to this morning - Saturday.

So, on the way over to a friend, I popped into a SEAT dealer in Coventry who, after some initial enquiries, said he could get me 1 of 3 top-of-range Seat Mii within 7 days. Colours Red or white Ecomotive versions or Black SE version

Emailed my Skoda dealer @2:15 saying disappointed he had not replied and got the message "sorry, been busy. I'll have a look at the what's available list on Monday". The email was timed 3:30 Saturday pm. He must have been sitting at his desk to write the email. Too much work to simply look up the computer screen then for what was available? Monday? Monday?

Going back to SEAT dealer tomorrow and going to buy the SEAT - SKODA obviously do not want my business.

PS Dealer who I had to do all the chasing was Arbury in Leamington SPA. I know that a Skoda Citigo does not have massive dealer margin, but, for F**-sake, I should not have to repeatedly do all the chasing and give all the options. Remember, I ordered the SKODA on the 14th September and, in effect, 6 weeks been wasted with a dealer who's too busy to actually sell me a car.

Yeah my dealings with Skoda dealers isn't very good and is if they can't be bothered. Coming from 2 Vauxhalls where I couldn't fault the dealership (sales or service) and recent experience with Ford purchasing my partners Fiesta, Skoda dealers need to up the ante if they are to keep/gain custom

My annoyance with the situation has, it seems, been justified.

I went into the Arbury Dealer in Leamington Spa this morning to 'force' my salesman to 'check the list' and, luckily, he was not in.

Another Guy picked up the query and the end result is I have got a fully loaded Citigo 75PS 5-door (cruise control, sun roof, rear beepers etc). arriving Wednesday of THIS week. 6 mins after entering the dealer, I was looking around the car in the stock pound - so why?, why?, Why? did the other salesman drag so much?

So well done to Scott of Arbury in Leamington Spa and not so good to the other guy.

I told 'you' that I should not have to accept months of lead-time for a flexible order.

Scott was asked by my wife as to who would get the commission on the new car and Scott said that he would be claiming it on this one.

He also said that he rings his customers every week with an update - we have had a total of 2 calls in 6 weeks from the original salesman for TWO cars.

Morale? If you feel you are not getting the service, ask to see another salesman - the equivalent of getting a second opinion. Dealer fine; specific salesman not so

Hope car okay and not been sold a pup!
