A few photos from my Summer 2012 Eurotrip...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Due to pressures of work its taken me quite a while to get these up here, apologies to those of you that asked a while back. If im honest, the photos arent as good and numbered as previous trips as I was driving solo on this one. I travelled with a good friend with his Jeep Wrangler. The basic itinerary was to cover the following countries in two and a half weeks:

Germany

Austria

Slovakia

Hungary

Croatia

Slovenia

Italy

After the two and a half weeks I then left my friend to travel back from North Italy whilst I drove to Marco Polo (Venice) airport to meet up with the family. The plan from then was to tour around Italy, mainly taking in the Venetian coast line for a week as well as one of my favourite european locations - beautiful Tuscany - for a further eight days. On the way back we headed to Austria (Innsbruck) for a night before staying with our good friends in the Black Forest, South Germany, for a further three nights. So, just short of 6,000 miles completed in the Yeti in just five weeks.

The car performed brilliantly throughout the trip. It literally didnt miss a beat throughout any of it and this journey was the most testing of any id previously completed in her. Some days the car was driven in excess of 13 hours a day. Some days it was driven at a GPS verified 130+mph. Outside temperatures ranged from 36-43 degrees for the majority of it and the A/C was running and maintaining a perfect 22 degrees whenever the panoramic roof wasnt back. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/emoticon-0103-cool.gif I had around 200kg's of camping and touring gear on board and it tackled everything from the smooth tarmac of German autobahns to light off road duties in Croatia. I really couldnt have asked anymore from the car in any respect. Even fuel economy was exceptionally good - getting a best daily consumption figure of 53mpg and above 40mpg overall. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Next trips that are being planned for the car are Germany and Austria for some Christmas markets in December and then next Summer it'll be heading to Spain (Costa Blanca) and Italy (Tuscany again) and I wont be on my own in the car so photos should be more plentiful! Also looking at taking her up North for a first time visit to Norway, Sweden and Finland, probably in May. Thats one im really looking forward too. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Very good! Looking forward to the German ones, but the link is a duplicate of the Treviso.

Sounds like a great trip, photos good and thanks for sharing...

Sorted, thanks. Unfortunately I only have a few photos in the Germany one! As I say, the photos were a bit scarce on the ground for this trip. :(

Cannot view unfortunately, probably as I'm not a facebooker, tweeter or anything else. This form is about it :giggle:

Hmmm, I thought those links were publicly viewable?! :-(

They are. I'm not a facebooker either, but I can access with no problems.

And you are getting those fuel consumption figures with a 1.8 TSI?

Tried to view the photos but I get a Facebook message - This content is currently unavailable - for all the links except for the final Germany one. That's after logging into my account.

Very similar to what I'm getting sadly.

And me, and I was logged into my facecloth account at the same time too

I am a fizzpuker, am logged in, and get a message saying I'm not allowed to view them as I don't have permission! Might need to check the viewing settings to public, as it defaults to a lesser permission at each upload I think.

Pity - I'm keen to see how the trip went. One of the great things on the Yeti forum, the exchange of photos! Hope it gets sorted soon.

Strange... There are the (very good! Thanks for posting) pics, and I am not logged in.

Thats strange as the links were copied in the same way for each album and the links should allow external viewing.

Ive now set them to Public so if I could ask you to try it again and let me know if it works that would be great - thanks. :)

Ah - it's duff hyperlinks. Somehow the copy/paste has doubled up encoding of ampersands (a reserved character in html) breaking them. These should work:

Slovenia looks really good in those photos.

Thanks Martin - very much appreciated. Doh - I'll blame it on the manflu and my thick head currently!

Slovenia was the surprise of the trip tbh - a beautiful country, great people and amazing scenery - Lake Bled was simply breathtaking. :)

Thanks also now able to view; looks like an amazing trip and thanks for sharing some of the views :)

Fuel consumption looks good too, getting figures my 110 produces B)

Its a shame I dont have more photos but I have loads of good memories. :) The mpg was outstanding - better than Ive had before - I can only put it down to the Shark mapping in combination with 103RON fuel and the K&N as well as the fact I limited most of my driving to 70mph. As most of us have worked out, above 70, the consumption increase heavily. For my three days of getting over 50mpg I didnt exceed 65mph and probably sat at 60mph mostly iirc. :) Its just to know its capable of good returns and to be honest, I got used to hooning around less but seeing more of the country whilst going that little bit slower. :)

Slovenia is indeed a bit of a secret gem - go there soon, before everyone else finds it!

Nice. Hope you enjoyed in our food and sea, but there is much more to see in Croatia. Next time ask for an advice and I'll be glad to tell you about all "must visit" places overhere. Still, happy to hear you have been here. Regards, Jazz.

I bet that is due to the slowness of the Wrangler you had to crawl with!!!! And not due to you wanting good fuel economy!!!

Great pics though.
