Upholstery repair/replacement advice please

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 56-plate vRS, and until this week the passenger seat was spotless. Unfortunately an idiot of my acquaintance dropped a lit cigarette onto the grey faux-suede perforated piece at the front of the seat (is it alcantara?) and burnt it quite deeply. I'm assuming that given how taut the fabric is, there's no repair possible which involves replacing just the burnt section, but I'

d be happy to be advised otherwise. Presumably I guess I'm going to have to get a whole new grey piece inserted?

Any ideas of cost would be appreciated - and any recommendations of specialists would also be gratefully received. I'm in Berkshire/North Hampshire, but I appreciate that there aren't specilaists in this sort of thing on every street corner and I may have to travel to get it sorted.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There are specialist seat repairers out there that will be able to do just that section. If you use a good one, then you'll never know it was done.

That's the common way to do it. The fabric is Alcantara as you mentioned. It's around 2..3 hrs of labour in total.

Patching doesn't really make sense because most of the time consumed will be taking the cloth off the seat and putting it back. Sewing time and material cost is minimal.
