Replacement LED (?) Lights - Entire Car!

Featured Replies

Want to replace the 'yellow' bulbs throughout the car with some white LED type ones. Will want them for:

- interior

- rear number plate

- side lights

- main headlights

No idea where to start - what are other people running and where did you get them?

Cheers

Dave

The numberplate lights WILL give an error if the car is (IIRC) '09 onwards, the only solution is to add a resistor or bulb into the loom.

As for the headlights not sure there is anything on the market yet that will offer an improvement over the halogen bulbs?

As for sidelights on the rear (if you are thinking of doing the rears) then ALWAYS use a red LED behind a red lens etc otherwise the brightness of the LED will make the light a pinkish colour.

LED indicator bulbs are generally a bad idea as they are less visible than the OE filament bulbs.

I've got LED sidelights, number plate lights and all interior lights. And I'm running 6000k HID headlight kit.

I got all mine from my mate at www.crazyleds.co.uk

And all of them are canbus friendly so I get no errors on the dash

One thing worth noting is that my car failed its first MOT due to having LED sidelights, or at least it would have done if the dealer hadn't replaced them - which I must add they did free of charge - and handed them to me in a bag.

The only reason I put LEDs in was so they would last longer and reduce maintenance, but having realised that I might have to swap them out for the MOT each year, I've left the filament bulbs in there.

I go for 2 MOT's a year as my car is a taxi, and my MOT's are done at the council test station.

I've never had any issues with them at all

Vleds.com look for part number 7507_20_P_A its the same brightness as OEM not cheap though but looks cracking.

The dealers know nowt and probably wanted just to charge you for some bulbs, My car had mot 2 weeks ago all Led apart from rear and properly aligned 4300 Hids all passed without even a mention

Just noticed they did not charge you, mind you I bet bit was not a £5 mot like most places

It's possible that they failed it because the colour was slightly off rather than just the fact that it was LED. The MOT was £40 at the Skoda dealer (like to MOT cars at the main dealer just before the 3rd birthday so they can check it for anything that needs replacing/fixing before the warranty runs out)

A quick search for MOTs and LEDs brings up an awful lot of people having the same issue
