56 vrs 2.0 pd 170, wont start

Featured Replies

Just had my VRS PD 170 MOT'd, passed with no advisories. Went to leave the garage, car turned over and started, then cut out, started it but it wouldnt run without throttle, anyway it then cut out and now will not start.

I checked the fuel canister and there is plenty of fuel and the filter is clean, the glowplug light is flashing and also the eml light is on and its turning over but not firing.

Any thoughts? Im thinking injectors but wont know until its hooked up to a scanner on monday.

Its had the injector recall, what kind of timeframe is the warranty on the injectors?

If they were fitted by a dealer/skoda approved garage it should be the normal Two years.

Thats good to know, anyone out there had similar issues?

When were the injectors done? How long had the car been stood without runing at the MOT place when you came to drive it?

All 3 of my non start / sudden cut out failures I have been MIF (Maintenance Induced Failure) - all within 2-12 hours of a service and usually just loose lead that has taken the VAG breakdown man 15 minutes to find and has then spent the next 5 minutes looking for a camera thinking he was being filmed for a documentary!

Well theyve got it going now, needed a drop of oil, it will now start but cuts out as soon as its driven. The mechanic said the boost pipe connected to the inlet manifold keeps popping off, so he is going to replace the seal and see if it solves it, Im not so optimistic that its that simple.

Coincidence that this has happened after they have performed the smoke test (revved the *******s off it)?

Its a bit strange how its suddenly playing up, I noticed the clip for the MAF sensor is also damaged which wasnt before it went in but it could just be a coincidence thats its decided to play up as it hasnt been running 100% for while.

Doing a bit of reading online and it seems as though it could be the DPF, never had the light on though, but the symptoms seem to be consistent to what Im reading online.

A knackered DPF would throw the EML, DPF light, glowplug light or all three.

Also read that it cuts out just after starting, had glow plug lights and eml light on, not sure what to do as car is at a garage and if its not drivable Im not sure how Im going to get a DPF delete done.
