I am driving Octavia 1.9 Tdi Automatic transmission mk1,. I experienced that my car transmission doesnot respond after long hours in trafic jams usually 1-2 hrs. If i press the pedal hard revs goes up but there is very minimum response on speed an car moves slow atvabt 20 -30 kmph. And this situation get resolved on its own...please sugest where the problem lies.

If the car's done more than 80_000km, start by having the transmission oil changed. (if you've smelt used automatic transmission fluid, you'll know why a garage gets this job) The original source for this advice is ZF Transmissions, and if they don't know about automatic gearboxes, then no-one does.

All the other possibilities start getting expensive I'm afraid.
