Intercooler pipe help

Featured Replies

I plan on fitting a front mounted intercooler to my Fabia VRS

I have a rough estimation on the sizes and what I need but I've never done anything like this before so I need some help before I go and buy loads of pipes

I need a few different angled elbows and a straight section to go the full length of the intercooler

I plan on extending the current intercooler pipes to the front instead of redirecting one to the turbo

If I buy metal pipes it will be a lot cheaper. Nearly £10 cheaper for 1m of straight pipe.if I continued using metal elbows and joints would I need silicone hoses to adapt the parts together?

Just need someone to clarify what I need with the likes of t bolt clamps ect

What intercooler are you going for twin pass or single, also the size? Also what do you mean by going to the front and not to the turbo? Check ash out for your pipe work best value for money i could find. You will need silicone joints to join the metal pipes also i would get pipes with beaded ends or they could pop off. Personally i would get silicone elbows as it would be cheaper than getting all metal and then all the joints aswell. T bolts clamps the cheapest i found was txautosport with a good range of size.

Cool man, it's the st intercooler which has an internal diamater of 57mm

The metal elbows from ash are working out around the same price

If you've got the same front mounted inter cooler than the Ibiza Cupra TDI the top pipe is a specially shape plastic stock one which also mounts the MAP sensor....Forge do an aluminium one but you may need to do some alterations inside the bumper....the official VW stock was about £80

This is like the one I'm fitting

That looks like it would be tricky. Im sure i have heard it done before.

that looks very neat and tidy almost factory fit. are there any other photos from the other side to see how he routes the pipes to the turbo?

Nah mate that's the only photos he had of it

Seen an install very similar to this before.. IIRC, the pipe behind the IC was a bit of a dog to get to the right place.

I'm going to use ash for all the kit

What's getting me is I already gave a 180' bend which was given to me that fits the intercooler. It has a 57mm internal diameter so what would I need to join a straight pipe from this along to another elbow then another pipe to the existing ones currently in place.

Got all the pipes I need sorted out I just need the diameters does anyone know what the current internal diameter of it is? I've been told its 57mm but can someone confirm it
