Can front VRS badge be removed?

Featured Replies

Hi.

Am looking at selling my Audi to get a VRS estate. Not had it a year yet, but miss the ooomph of the remapped Mondeo I had before. Am thinking of speccing it in silver and debadging the back (and the front) to get a semi-sleeper finish (though it is still a little lairy, and not so fast as to be a true sleeper).

The back will be easy to do, but I don't know how the grille is fixed. I used to have a 16v mk3 Golf GTI. The grille had a 16v badge that stood proud and looked seperate, but was moulded as part of the grille. Is this the same for the VRS, or is the badge detachable? Hoping to save buying a replacement grille.

Thanks guys.

You can take it off but its not the nicest of finish after so does need some Stanley blade after and some paint aswell.

Awesome.

Thank you very much!

Welcome to the forum.

I have been doing a debadged Skoda experiment.

My conclusion is that you get tailgated even worse with one debadged at the rear than with a vRS badge fitted.

Nobody wants to be behind a Skoda.

More by Workies vans certainly, that are on your jacksy and closer, & then giving it big licks to be passed you...

& i find that Audis & BMWs come up close & stay there when no badge,

but some do drop back a little when there is still a vRS badge on.

They are ready to go for it if the road is clear or not, & badge fitted or not.

Ha!

I love being tailgated! Doesn't happen all that often, but I love playing games. Only ever happens to me in the city when I am sticking (near enough) to speed limits.

I love having someone up my tail for ages in a 30 or 40 zone, then leaving them for dust on 60+ roads ( as far as I'm concerned speed limits don't exist on motorways - there's enough lanes for everyone to drive safely).

I take it thats when you are in the car alone and not with children as passengers?

Many of us like to play, but i find a Fabia (Skoda) has more cars & vans even closer than i even got when driving in an iQ.

Yes; minus kids (and nervy wife).

Still look forward to it. Isn't that the point of debadging?

Stanley blade and paint?

Are you being serious?

For the front if you wanna remove the black backing then yea. Its plastic welded.

Ah, in which case I may look at a replacement.

I personally would get a replacement. I wasn't worried to much as I'm getting the honeycomb effective one at some point anyway.

Just drive along the motorway at normal speed and wait for it to just fall off.........like mine did :wonder:

You can always use this badge instead (if your car is green ofc) :

I've never owned a VRS (don't want to pay silly insurance prices, or loose my licence!) but having driven a Fabia sinse 2006, I'd agree with this. When driving hire cars (usually boring Vectras, Mondeos or Corsa) I get much less tailgating... when I'm in my Fabia they can't wait to drive their front axle into my boot!

Lol... I think there's something strange with this country and Skoda... First you got so many people refusing to accept what a Skoda is today and then there's all these losers that light up when they see one in front??

I just can't explain it, I've never come across such an attitude anywhere else in Europe... I only know for sure that If I was living in the UK, I'd remove the vRS badges and have the fun of my life...

Just my opinion but I can't see that removing the little vRS badges will make the car any more of a 'sleeper' :wonder: .

Those people that 'know cars' will still realise what it is I reckon (and those that don't won't care or know what 'vRS' means anyhow). The rear diffuser, spoiler and twin exhaust pipes tend to alert people to what lurks beneath the bonnet :giggle: . Tail-gaters will still drive 2ft from your rear bumper like a muppet
