Do you get much benefit from remapping, and is this something a Skoda Dealer would do or just specialist engine tuners?

do a search buddy, absolutley loads of info, but in short

benefit? Yes tons = mpg/power/torque

Skoda dealer? NO, Shark are anecdotally very good

I'm going to have my Skoda Superb 1 PD130 1.9 TDI remapped by R-Tech in 2 weeks. I can report back once I've had it done.

My Skoda Superb 1.9tdi 130 is remapped, and I have an OBD plug in so I can switch between Original, Power and Economy remaps. The economy is fab! Can get 75mpg and above on a long run driving carefully. And the power remap, is there for when I fancy a blast. It's bloody quick and there's no turbo lag at all! The power is just there! I live in Leicester but work in Hull Mon to Fri, what do you have to do to switch between maps?

Just enquiring at the moment, only picked up the car yesterday so there's some other bits and bobs I want to get fixed first, got it booked into the Skoda garage in Hull for a full service tomorrow, so that might pop up some other issues too....

You just plug in a cable to the OBD and there's a little monitor, click identify ECU then it gives 3 options, economy, power or original. Scroll to the one you want and select it. Takes about 10 minutes to erase the old software and write the new. Viola, 130 to 180 bhp and vice versa! Not sure what the power of the economy one is but it's more pokey than the standard and gets excellent MPG if driven accordingly.

I've had mine remapped at R-Tech. It's fantastic I'd highly recommend you have your map. The engine is smoother, more powerful and more responsive.

My insurers gave me a discount for having a remap! I'm with Flux.
