The Tractor Has Her VRS Dress On AND SPOILER NOW

Featured Replies

Paint was suitably hard today, so i donned my jacket and set about the swap.

Im very happy with the colour match, and after wet sand 1600 grit, g3, and a hard wax, im delighted with the finish. I dont look toooooooooo close cos it is a rattle can job at end of the day.

But i still think youd struggle to fault it for price paid £50 for bumper £25 for the paints.

Does that look better?????? Spoiler getting drilled in this afternoon

  • spoiler is on now too

  • I wouldn't bother. Couldn't get rid of my crappy vRS seats quick enough.

  • Yup a splitter will be going on asap, early next week, i have scuffed the bumper already, an entry to a drive I normally sale up, the long chin being the issue. I would wreck a white carpet, probably

Defo looking better, we just need to get them drl's back on some how :D

Anyways does anyone know of anyone thats got a vrs replica in scotland or the rest of the uk, as me and lofty are the only ones in scotland at the present point in time that we're aware of

Seen a white 2001 down south and a silver one aswell

cheers man, keep looking out the window, loving it

imo though, you should have just put the splitter on, looks a little bit plain looking, i'll keep my eyes open for goodies

  • Author

but where i have to drive, and the fact that the bumper bottom is further forward, throws the splitter further foward thus ruining my entry angles, already had problems this morning with the bumper alone

does anyone know of anyone thats got a vrs replica in scotland or the rest of the uk

Seen a couple down this way.

Theres a dark blue one in Tunbridge Wells which is a W reg 1.9TDI but with the VRS bumper and rear spoiler. So not really a proper VRS replica as they never came in blue, or W reg!

Red taxi in Plymouth which was a TDI but with VRS spoiler, wheels and bumper

The Silverline came with the Octavia VRS spoiler anyway so you'd just need the front bumper to make that into a VRS replica.

:S cause the vrs is i pointed at the front where as the standard bumper is curved back towards the wheel, sorry to hear that

it aint hard to do is it? Haha, interior is where alot of work is

Well carl you've seen mines and well i'am only the proper steering wheel and vrs carpet away from a 100% replica

Just means that i cant have a splitter on, thats all, and i have to be carefull entering customers drives and go diagonally

There is one big bit that may bring the percentage down................. Engine :giggle:

Engine is one thing i dont want at all

  • Author

haha ditto

I think I'd go for the front bumper and spoiler but not the interior. Mine was an absolute pain in the a$$ to keep clean especially if you use the car regularly. VRS wheels as well look a bit odd over little TDI brakes and the hub is the wrong one to do the VRS brake upgrade. But having an engine that can do almost double the mpg of a 1.8T is a winner!

  • Author

yeah 70mpg is a regular for me now.

Looking good mate.

Cheap coilies have made this car look the dobermans danglers. Haha

Indeed

Aye! any other expensive coilies just wouldnt cut it would they, it had to be the joms to achieve this haha

Bumper and wing make the car look 100 times better.

But I'm still not a fan of the principle of what you're doing. Your going to give people a bad impression of the RS!

Most people try and make a fast car look dull, but you're making a dull car look fast. Doesn't make sense to me, but anyway.

Welcome to the world of scraping the underside of your front bumper anyway! It's got a big old chin on it!

  • Author

thanks, but how does it make the rs look bad exactly? I handles well, its quiet as it can be, im not a fast driver, so its irrelevant. And i dont let anyone else drive it so its a moot point really

Aye im toying with the idea of the splitter again.

it used to scrape its chin on the old bumper with the lcr splitter on so its gonna be a nightmare on this hehe

Also don't see how he gives people a bad impression of the rs?

Disagree with the making a dull car look faster too, I'd say he is using OEM parts from a better looking model to make his own look better. Beats some of the hideous bodykit out there that cost much more. He has the look of the rs with cheaper running costs, don't see how that's a bad thing.
