snowtyres compatible?

Featured Replies

Hi There,

We have recently changed from an 09 petrol roomster to a 1.2? diesel greenline roomster.

On the old one we had steel wheels on which we fitted 195/55 15 snow tyres, the new one has alloy wheels with 185/60 15 tyres.

My question is can we fit the virtually new snowtyres we have on the new car, and what steel wheels will we need.

Thanks in advance,

Thats not a good start is it- first post before reading the rules and it's in the wrong section, sorry

Hi and welcome,

would not worry to much re wrong post area, easy mistake.

The rims for 185/60 R15 tyres are the same size as those for 195/55 R15.

6Jx15 ET43 with a stud pattern of 5X100.

Cannot myself see an issue with running the 195/55 trye on your car, might even find it listed on the filler flap and maybe as the spare if you have bought the kit to replace the standard glue. Would however notify your insurer of the change for winter.

We replace the 205/45 R16 on our Fabia II with the 195's every winter.

Hope of help,

TP

Thanks for that Plumber, only thing confusing me there now is on that link, when I put in our car it auto selects 5J not six, even if I put in the year for the old car- yet the tyres on the old car aren't supposed to fit rims under 5.5.

The local dealer is just saying 'we can order some in that may fit'

I stupidly thought 'same car, no problem' but its turning into a minefield.

Mine is a 1.2Tsi 2010 Roomster. My wheels are factory fitted 195/55/15 on steels. I am almost 100% sure that nothing changed between 2006 and 2012 Roomster wheels except some fresh alloy designs.

Thanks all, it seems we can put the old snowtyres on the new wheels then, and to be honest thats what we will do unless I can get steelies well cheap. skoda want £45 a pop, plus new bolts at about £70 the set. Thats a good few swaps. The cheaper ebay places want extra for delivering this far north so probably not much cheaper there either.
