Hopefully pal. Let us know dude coz its annoying the **** out of me! lol

Hiya pal

This weekend I found the cause of the horrible hair dryer noise! It was another split pipe into the turbo, from the metal one leading up to it from the intercooler.

I still have one noise though - that dreaded police siren noise!! I'm assuming you don't have this one?!

After speaking to Turbo Dynamics they reckon this noise is the impellars. Apparently a way to test it is by taking off the intake pipe and seeing if there's movement inside the turbo.

If there is movement inside the turbo, I'm assuming it means either:

1. I have a faulty turbo

2. Bits travelled around the system when the last turbo popped and the garage didn't clean it properly or

3. Something has travelled into the turbo from when the pipes were split

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's time to sell the Fabia as I've spent far too much money on this car. If I take the turbo off and send it back under warranty, it makes me wonder if they'll blame it on something getting into it, which will set me back another turbo cost!!

If you have any other thoughts or recommendations, it would be much appreciated, as this'll be decision time on keeping the car.

Many thanks

Just thought it would be worth pointing out because i had the same noise from my garret. We changed my exhaust over at the weekend and found that the flexi pipe on the downpipe was absoultly shot. Was leaking soot n ****e everywhere

Just had a diagnostic test on my turbo by Awesome in Irlam and they confirmed nothing is wrong with the turbo  They put an endoscope into the turbo and there are no signs of wear, damage or imbalance. That was the news I was hoping for! :whew:

They also checked all sensors for readings - all seems okay (no leaks or boost issues). The turbo noise is normal apparently!!

However, they have advised that I have clutch slip which I knew anyway. That will possibly be my next purchase!

Anyway, thought I'd keep you posted on my good news. Hope things are going well at your end.

When I had my Fabia vRS I had roughly the same sort of noises you were having, a faint police siren noise at low revs when starting to accelerate. This is just the turbo spooling up to provide boost, quite normal. The loud hissing noise, sounding like air rushing though a narrow tube, usually happened when accelerating hard through 2000 to 2500 rpm. This is the sound of the air rushing through the pipes at maximum boost, I had both these noises and the car ran faultlessly for over 30,000 miles. In my opinion there is nothing to get over worried about, just keep an ear open if it was to get significantly worse.

Thanks for this information.

I have finally eliminated the hissing noise! A pipe coming out of the turbo needed replacing due to being split slightly. Hopefully that's the end of these weird turbo issues! With the diagnostic test and positive comments from yourself and others, I do feel better about the new turbo. It must be an OCD thing after having spent lots of money on this car recently.

Many thanks for your comment.

I feel you r pain pal. This VRS owes my alot! lol

Glad both our cars are now sorted lol :)
