Hot air or cold air ?

Featured Replies

Has anyone else having problems with there climate control ?

I have a choice, hot or cold ! no in between !

Tried everything, dual, auto on,auto off, top vent bottom vent, air con on, air con off !

Think ill need to get it booked in to Skoda and have it checked, its really annoying,

Derek

What else do you want? If the temperature in the car is below the one you have chosen, it will blow hot air to reach it; if it's above that, it will blow cold air to cool it down. is it the volume of hot/cold air that's the problem? Have you tried adjusting the fan speed?

I understand how climate control works, if you have it on auto, it will try and maintain that temperature regardless.

But, if auto is not selected, and I select roughly 21/22 on the dials, I should get medium to warm air. This is the part that ain't working, I can select any anywhere on the dials, and I only get either, red hot air, or cold air, no medium air.

I think I might know how to increase fan speed, would that be the plus or minus ? );

I think Auto only affects the distribution and fan speed; it will still control the temperature, even if it's switched off. From the manual:

"Automatic mode is switched off by pressing one of the buttons for the air distribution

or by increasing/decreasing the blower speed. The temperature is nevertheless

regulated."

So if you've set the temperature to 21, and the car is warmer, it will blow cold air.

Yep, I agree the superb climate has a mind of its own, it's certainly not its strongest point along with taking forever to warm up on cold days.

Unlike other systems, I've found that you have to use the climatronic as instructed. All vents open, facing up, auto on and in Hi (led on right lit up on auto button) and set to 21/22. In summer I have it cooler 19/20.

Do this and it seems to work ok, assuming everything else is working ok. Mine heats up within 5 mins currently in just city traffic and for a diesel that's good.

Cheers

Agreed Steve, apart from odd ocassions, mine is left @ 22 with auto on lower. Very rarely have to tweak it at all - even in cold mornings I just flick the screen demist setting for a few mins then back to auto.

+1, but you guys must be cold blooded as I am a 19 man myself and dual 19/22 when swmbo is in the car .....

Yep diesel, it takes a lot longer then any other diesel I've ever had to warm up, to be fair it is massive.

I've learnt to live with it so it's no great deal, it is great when the heated seats get up to temp ;-)

I usually find, by the time the heated seats heat up, the car has got a good temp for hot air .

if you manually set the temperature and the air around the sensor is cold the the air coming out of the vents will be very hot until the cabin is up to the temperature you want the reverse is true for cooling do not try to gauge the working by putting you hand over the vent as this is not how it works thing of central heating or air con at home

my diesel warms up quickly however I do have a preheating system on it so in winter its not so bad

Hi, I've got a problem with my climate control. Only cold air comes out and no regulation in temp when selecting between degrees. When I get to MAX TEMP(red spot) setting, I get warm air from climate control, but not before the max stage. When I turn it back to the previous step(26degrees), the warm air disappears again.

Coolant level is between Min and Max.

Does anyone have the procedure for recalibration of climate control, or maybe some suggestions in troubleshooting??
