Race Car - what would you choose?

Featured Replies

Got to be made after 2000

Doh! Should read properly. One of my mates had one

way back and it was a bloody fast car even with all the seats

in it and in standard tune. Best road car burnout I have ever seen

was one of these.

i've added Polo GTi to my potential list - although they are a bit rare.

still not got the money but it's always fun to consider these things.

Did go see the above Yaris though..... I was tempted to get it as a replacement for the Fabia without racing in mind!

Not sure which type of Polo, but I've a fine example of the 6n2 for sale soon! ;)

Gearboxes are a bit. . . weak on them though. Not sure how it would complete against some of the bigger engined cars it could find itself against either. I'd say a Lupo would be the better of the two cars with that engine in all honesty.

Lupo gti ****es all over the polo!

But expect to pay a premium for one!

For cheapness (if u can find one that is) a Suzuki swift twin cam 1.6 16v about 750kg fully laden and 150ish bhp give or take a fiew years...

Money no object a fully prepared renault Clio 200 cup from Renault with all the trimmings £40k from Renault build trailer everything. All done just turn the key and dominate. Hahah

Could you use a Saxo forte? 1.4 and with a few mods could be good!

Cliff, I see you considering a Civic Type R or a Clio 172/182. One of the guys on Cliosport races a Clio and he says he's never going to be competitive enough with the Civic type R around. He's more experienced than a lot of the Civic type R youngsters but still can't keep up with them. The Civics are more tweakable in all respects and the Clios although a lively fun car do not make the power that is claimed by Renault even when new and is expensive to tune.

Any Front drive car is going to need an LSD to get you out the corners quickly so factor that into your budget.
