what speed in what gears??

Featured Replies

hi :)

was wondering if anybody out there has the figures for what speeds you should get out of what gears on a standard octy RS? Have tried looking in the archive but dont seem to see any:(

kit :)

ratios for the RS are as follows:

Gear ratios/mph per 000 for RS as follows:

1st = 3.3/6.2

2nd = 1.94/10.5

3rd = 1.31/15.6

4th = 1.03/19.8

5th = 0.84/24.3

Therefore max speed at 7k is

1st = 43

2nd = 74

3rd = 109

4th = 139

5th = 170.1

HTH

think i might have a problem then!! took my car in to be remapped at logicautomotive,rathcoole.When he sucked out the file from the ECU he said that it dodnt look right,the code was all wrong:( he cracked open the ECU and found a piggyback chip which he believes was installedn by a super chips agent.The car never felt that special to me!! after much chat with the upsolute techie in austria they sent over a basic octy RS 180 file and then remapped that one....

but now its been remapped the figures i get are still some way off what you have just posted....:(

on another note,i would have been well up **** street if i hade smashed the car and the insurance company found the chip whaich i had no idea was there!!

kit :)

Plausable deniability!!!! The insurance forms are to the best of your knowledge. If you buy the car brand new, then it is accepted the car will be in standard fettle and an mods are the owners doing. If, however, the car is bought second-hand, and it is sold to you as standard and there are no indications to the opposite, why would you have declared otherwise...if you catch my drift.

And why would you have paid for a remap to the standard power, anyway????

5th does 127mph at just over 4,000 revs (apparently...)

Can you post the figures you are seeing and I'm sure someone one of the vRS owners will be able to tell you if they're about right. The trouble with the gear speeds is that they are theoretical and don't take into account things like wind resistance, etc! :)

Chris

to give you an idea.

my more or less standard octy vRS does the following

1st = about 30-35mph (dont really cain the car in 1st)

2nd = 75 or there abouts at 7Krpm

3rd = 105 or there abouts at 7Krpm

4th = havent tried

5th = wouldnt dare but 4Krpm is about 90-95mph IIRC.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the info:) am putting it on the rolling road on monday,so will see what its putting out now.But let me just say that whatever the previous owner had done,it drove like a bag of spanners!!! I took it back to the skoda garage twice and they said that all was well....aye right!! but when i told them that i had found the piggy back chip they said that a few of the mechanics thought it pulled away a bit harsh!!! thus going back on what they had previously said:( As for plausible deniability about the chip all i can say is that this is the republic of ireland and that just woulndt wash....they just wouldnt pay out all!!

If the figures from the RR session come back rubbish then i'll get upsolute to reverse it and try somewhere else:(

cheers kit

ps... does anybody know of anybody in the dublin area who wants a set or RS alloys as i have a set going for free?....with tyres!!
