Josh's R26 Megane - Warning Renault Content!

Featured Replies

Decided it was about time I started my RR seeing as I've had the car 8 weeks+ and not written much about it yet!

My previous car was a SEAT Ibiza FR TDi running 220bhp 300ft/lbs

But moving on to my first ever Renault after being swayed when a local lad took me out for a spin in his own R26!

Picked it up from London With 16k on the clock, totally standard, totally mint bodywork except for 2 bent anti twist links (now sorted), for a grand sum of £7,850.

Cambelt was due, but thats now sorted thanks to KTEC.

Awful pic from first day:

And here's my bananas lol:

I've not really done much to it except enjoy driving it, things will change soon though I'm sure...

It needed a very good detail so I set about decontaminating and machine polishing in an attempt to remove 5 years of fallout and crud from it :( this took many weekends in between the rain and other commitments.

Got spanked by a GTR which you may recognise ;) I was luckily passenger in it around 11am! That was mental 600bhp of pure fun lol.

The Meg REALLY impressed me as it was the first time I'd had chance to really push hard in it :)

I also attended a dyno day at GotBoost in Bridgend this weekend.

It made 237BHP 232ft/lbs

I'll update as progress continues!

Cheers

While I'll openly admit that I am not personally a fan of the rear styling of the Megane, you have to admit that the sports model you have does it's job very well for a sensible price. It's quick and a hell of a lot more value for money than mine or a lot of cars out there with premium badges.

I love that metallic yellow.

I love these! And that colour is amazing. Very nearly bought one when I got my BMW, but not sure I could live with the MPG.

What sort of consumption to you get out of interest?

AAARRRGGGH, MY EYES!!!!! B)

I remember your car passing me at Castle Combe and i made comment to my GF that you were probably 2nd quickest on the day.

Hah, we'll its looks certainly divide opinions!

However most do agree for a drivers car you can't get a much better bundle for similar money. I really enjoy driving it it still feels quick even now.

I get 32-33 on my daily commute sat at 70 for ~25 miles so really not all that bad although they do like super unleaded.

Castle Combe was good fun, I braked way too soon for every corner so I'd like to go back soon have some tuition and really push hard to see what kind of lap times I can achieve.

Done a couple of mods since so will update later :)

Colour is fab BTW. :)

That wasn't you near castell coch about an hour ago was it?? Saw a gleaming one on the bridge over the taff

Nah wasn't me dude, I think I know who it was though :)

What are these like mapped? I know they have a bloody good chassis, and handle pretty good. I love the R version with plastic rear window and roll cage, look lovely in White. I also like the limited edition f1 version they did in the lovely blue colour.
