TPS parts

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Are TPS parts good? I have a mk1 octavia 110. Took a look at their website and found they do economy parts for older cars. I'd be after oil & filters but I may venture into replacing discs & pads if I feel brave enough.

Cheers.

Alex

i have used them and all parts i have had are genuine but cheaper

Discs and pads is an easy swap. Grab yourself some allen key sockets and a piston windback tool, a non-return bleed bottle, some copper slip, and threadlock for the caliper bolts, and you're all set. Also cheap from TPS. ;)

Oh yeah, and a big drip tray, and a couple of tins of brake cleaner for the calipers.

Don't forget to keep the brake reservoir topped up nicely with fluid when bleeding/flushing.

I always use TPS for VAG parts.

I bought a set of genuine economy rear pads last week I havnt fitted them yet. To be honest they dont seem to be as thick as the last pads I put in and the texture is more like gravel with shiney chunks of black and silver compound. Also they are stamped 'Made in India'.

I would stick to OEM VAG parts rather than the economy range. As for brakes Pagid stuff is OEM quality & my long trusted garage in Cardiff won't fit anything else these days.

TPS seem to only deal with trade. Anyone else use other suppliers?

Find a friendly local garage you can use the name of, and pay cash. ;)

I'll try that devon.

Thanks

TPS are great. My local VAG specialist advised steering clear of the economy parts, though.

TPS will deal with you, but you will probably have to show up in person at your local depot to set up the account. They are open to working with private individuals, and also do cash sale tickets. But if you set up the account properly you will get a slight discount, whereas with cash sale, you will not.

Don't bother enquiring through the website though. Nobody will get back to you. You will need to phone them, or like I said, turn up in person. They don't seem to like setting up accounts over the phone.

I find TPS car part ok for private folks.

I also go to vagcats to get part numbers first as they are way more friendly to you if you have researched. I get at least 10% discount for gen OEM parts.

Only use tps once as we have account through work and they got it wrong.

Ordered R32 front roll bar and upper and lower solid subframe bushes, got bar and 4 upper bushes, when i phoned and asked why they said they will swop them, that was 6 months ago and still waiting.

Later found out through dealer they were on factory backorder but apparently they had them in stock at supplier, i think not

Eurocarparts sell Pagid etc which IS OEM the disks are also high carbon and coated so they don't get that rusty look to them. Lots of discount codes that can be used via the website either for free delivery or reserve and collect at your nearest store. Current one for 30% off disks and pads is 30now or now30. Just picked up a set for the octy this morning £47. 288's for the 4x4
