Which Gaskets needed after cleaning '02 110TDI Octy ?

Featured Replies

As per title, are new gaskets needed when reinstalling an EGR ? ( & if so what ones ? )

Also, what gaskets & other consumables are needed when using Mr Muscle on turbo ?

( What happens if EGR exhaust input is blanked off on an '02 110 1.9 TDI ? )

never needed any on mine, for egr or turbo clean, and never had a problem just used old ones

That sounds good and, um, not very expensive :-)

I was wondering about replacing the inlet manifold gasket too and also if there is there a magic potion ( apart from elbow grease ) to get the gunk out of the EGR.

Olddog

use diesel, and let it soak, again i reused inlet mani gasket and its fine

When I took of my inlet (and exhaust) manifolds I fitted with new gaskets, however around the EGR I recycled the old ones.

Thank you both for your replies

Going to have a go at this over the weekend

Anything I should watch out for ?

socket mounted allen keys might help on the EGR. and some plug gas on the inlet manifold, as I think it is studs (or that might be the exhaust - I can't remember now!).

Just taking off the EGR assembly is easy enough - remember to make sure that when you refit it that the vacuum valve which is clipped on underneath is secure - otherwise it can drop down and melt on the exhaust supply line to the EGR.

As above, let it soak in diesel or kerosesne if you have any. I used an alloy wheel spoke cleaning brush on mine. Then once everyone had gone to bed I ran it through the dishwasher.

Its easier to receive forgiveness than permission.post-72179-0-71674900-1351085809_thumb.jpgpost-72179-0-88555300-1351085821_thumb.jpgpost-72179-0-69270300-1351085831_thumb.jpg
