help with front mount

evening all , i have been gettin a saphire cosworth 4x4 intercooler for next to nowt.

plan is to try and get it to fit on the vrs , not sure if i have the space becasue the IC is 125mm wide , 125mm in height and about 700mm long ,

i am trying to get hold of another 1 so i can chop the ends of and make a twin pass version of it so i can keep the pipewrork and lag down to a low.

also have plans of a td04 or t3 conversion on the car soon

was gonna say unless you uprate the turbo, its just not worth the effort, fit an uprated smic instead.

however reading your comments, i would be interested to see a td04 conversion, bit of a niche upgrade in the uk, tho have seen a couple on mk4.net and on vortex over in the states where its more common.

cheers lads , a pal of mine has a ihi ibiza cupra and he got me thinking , the cost of the ihi is to much and cost of the k04 for the gains are not worth it for me , plus av got a old td04-16t in the batshed , and it would make 300bhp , althugh am only after 275/285ish from the car.

this intercooler has to use the standard hard pipes thats on the car to keep cost down , i dont really want to make some custom pipe work unless i can get it done cheers , and all the other stuff i have seen dosent look the best.

has any 1 moved the metal water pipe thats infront of the turbo , the 1 that causes the problems when fitting the tip

now ihi is nice, but non rebuildable is a no no imo, from what i understand the td turbos can be set up in a silmar fashion to the ihi lumps, you are right to think along those lines rather than a k04 upgrade, to be honest ko3 hyrbid would be the way forward anyway with k04 or rs4 internals.

if you have a td turbo, and can sort the mani out, why not!

will be really keen to see your progress, keep me posted please!

yeah its off a volvo and the turbo is in the same place as the vrs so it shouldnt be to hard to make the downpipe , only other option for the intercooler is to go BAM inlet but am not to sure on how to make the wires fit with the tb been on the other side, or custom pipe work.

av got a few ideas in me head on which way to attack this , want to keep the cost down to a min.

what about a custom smic, if you dont like the ebay ones, either that or a tyrol sport or a eurojet one, no lag, and will be more than capable of a mid range turbo upgrade without major modification to pipework or the engine bay, and def means there is no introduction of extra pipework causing lag.
