Anyone tried Falken 452s on a VRs TDi ?

Featured Replies

Been looking at thecabovectyres for my standard 60 plate VRs TDi hatch

Would be interested in grip (wet/dry), wear rate and noise

Yes the new blurb gives the info but in a clinical format, I would like any real life experiences.

Thanks.

Very good in the dry, not bad in the wet when it's warm.

Not so great when it's cold (around freezing) on wet and damp roads.

effing useless on snow/compacted ice, but then they are a dedicated performance summer tyre, so you shouldn't expect any different.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll remove them from the list of potentials.

I found them as good as any other non-winter tyre on snow/ice :)

Why? They are a good budget/mid range tyre, and at the price you won't get much better.

If you pay more you'll get better, but that's rather obvious.

They are actually to be replaced by the 453,but these don't seem to be available yet

I fitted some to my VRS and they were a huge improvement on the OE Dunlop Sport Maxx GT

For the money I thought they were VFM, better grip and much quieter

Have a look at matador mp46's, there similar price to falkens, im now on my 3rd set of them on my vrs and love them.

Have some dunlop sport maxx's on my other wheels and matadors leave them for dead grip wise wet and dry

I agree, they're as good as any other performance summer tyre when the going gets bad in the winter.

All performance tyres are pretty useless of ice and snow, so it's hardly a surprise.

Ive had a few pairs when I had my vRS. Thought they were rather excellent for the money. Gave great performance and feel free to PM Sharkrider and ask him how my car pulled out of corners in the damp.

As for on snow I've never got stuck with them on, but that's probably due to driving properly for the conditions. I'm sure anyone with summer or performance tyres fitted will say they arent the best on snow....that's what wnter tyres a for.

I would highly recommend them and have even bought another pair for the front of my current car. But since the 453 has been released I wonder how long the 452 will remain in production.

I don't think the 452 is in production any more, surprised they're still available tbh. Most places are selling 453 now so far as I can tell, and I've not heard much about them.

I'm sticking to the Rainsport 2s for now, Vredestein Sportrac 5 is getting a good write up so I think it'll be between that and the 453 when I need some new rubber, if the 453 turns out to be any cop of course.
