Engine Management Warning Light

Featured Replies

The engine management warning light has stayed on for a couple of days now on my 13 month old diesel Fabia Greenline. At least I think that is what this orange glowing lamp on the dash is called. Doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the car and drives just as it does normally. How pushed should I be to get it to the dealers under warranty.

do it, lights are annoying and if something is faulty, sooner the better on warranties

I would be calling the dealer soonest to get it checked out in case it is something serious. Give Skoda assist a call as the dealers are generally shut tomorrow.

Don't delay a check up anyfurther otherwise big chance a nice red light will start flashing and then there is no return.

Just so long as it isnt your DPF light. If it is and there is a fault with your regen system you run the risk of filling your DPF beyond force regen point and THAT is seriously expensive.

Silly bugga me! Forgot all about Skoda Assist, thanks MVL and all the other posters as hadn't realised things could be so dire! Just called them and they have now returned the call to say will be out in a 40 minutes. Will of course let you all know how things turn out, but depending on what happens may be tomorrow now.

:o)

Hello again. Skoda Assist just left the scene and diagnosed the fault as an EGR valve fault. They have arranged for me to take the car into my local dealers in the morning and pick up a courtesy car while the dealer replaces the valve.

One or two of you may have long memories and remember I have bitterly complained in the past here about the claimed MPG and actual MPG on this Diesel Fabia Greenline. The Assist man was able to demonstrate how the engine hunts while this fault is on the car and not the sweet even beat of this normally purring engine and hence wasting fuel! When I told him, often when I stop with the engine start/stop dis-engaged say at traffic lights then this hunting' has nearly always been heard. This fault has been on the car since new but not bad enough to show a fault light till now, so now replacing this valve should dramatically increase my MPG!

Anyone else experiencing an uneven beat in the diesel Fabia engine and lower than expected return on their MPG? Common fault perhaps?

Once again thank you for your responses and if there is a dramatic increase in my MPG after the new valve is fitted, then I will repost in a few weeks time as a I get details.

Thank you all.

Joe
