What information does the MID provide?

Featured Replies

My ex has been dodging me for money she owes me recently, and despite my best efforts I'm getting nowhere. I've found out she's driving her housemate's car, which to the best of my knowledge she's not insured on (never has been, because she "can't afford it"). If I paid for a full MID check, does it just give you the vehicle details, or can you find out who's insured to drive it? Because if I find out she's not insured then yes, I intend to shop her, if she "can't afford it" then she shouldn't be on the road and it'll teach her a lesson as well as give me a mild chuckle :)

As far as I know it will only tell you if the car has valid insurance on it not who is insured. I

I also think its free of charge as long as you have a valid reson to check it.

Check the MID website.

Just have a sneaky word with a traffic officer am sure he would be more than happy to assist,

Usually tell traffic they have the more powerful vehicles and are older than 12

It's free to check on/off database, but a paid check gives you more details. I know it gives you policyholder's details as a colleague paid to find out who knocked him off his bike so he could pay them a visit about settling the damages, but I dunno about anything further than that. A word with a copper might be an idea but equally they have enough work on their plate, so if she's paid up then I wouldn't want to be wasting their time just to be petty about it.

Report her to the police, they can check the details and will take action if need be, they won't tell you if she's insurered or not but they will make enquiries.

MID wont tell you if she's insurered or not, just wether the vehicle is insurered or not.

Fair enough. I'll perhaps give them a bell and suggest they might want to check it out.
