Angel Eyes for Fabia 1.4 MPI MKII - Projector shroud

Featured Replies

Hiya members,

Just joined a couple of days ago and new here. Got a query regarding the projector lamp shroud that comes factory fit in the 16V 1.4 MPI.

Can I find the size [diameter in mm] of the front end of the shroud, the end of it where the projector glass is? I ask this because there are angel eyes that can be fit to the front end of the shroud and I'm considering one [if it would be feasible]. I'm not skilled nor daring enough to open the headlight case and measure it myself, so any help with the size [mm] information would help.

TIA

1. Opening the factory headlights in one piece is not possible. The sealer used is rock solid so you will break them in order to open them and 2. angel eyes are BMW's trademark, on a Fabia is not my cup of tea.

Never looked at the Fabia headlamps, on my previous Hyundai Coupe it was reasonably easy to split the headlamps open and fit angel eyes (looked great too !)

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I guessed as much, which is why I was not willing to make any attempts to open the headlight up [Have heard from a friend that his Fiat Linea's headlight didn't budge when tried to be opened].

I'll probably agree with you now about angel eyes on Fabia.. I'd seen some aftermarket headlight kit in India but the quality [with angel & demon eyes] seemed very poor.

Btw, huge fan of your awesome Fabia sport and your fog lamp frame+DRLs are my fav.. Have planned to source them for my 1.4 but the cost will be a killer [almost 2+ times the price to get it to India]. Not really liking your new bonnet [just] but totally awesome car.. The best I've seen here..

And of course, your photoshop skills are terrific, treat to see your snaps. :)

Cheers,

ajay K

It is usually possible to take the light apart but normally involves sticking them in a the oven on a low heat to soften the adhesive.

The best things you can do on a Fabia MK2 with projectors to improve the look is to get a decent HID kit fitted, change sidelight bulbs for LED ones (think they may have to be canbus ones?) and, as you have said above, source the fog/DRL unit and fit LED bulbs for the DRL's.

Forget ovens and heatguns with the MKII headlights. My "test" headlight almost melted in the oven and the adhesive was still rock hard.

In order to open my pre-facelift headlights I had to buy a pair of DEPO headlights which are aftermarket imitations made in China.

Those have a silicone that softens with heat and thus you can open the shell without compromising any parts.

Oven and a heatgun is good on old headlights but it seems that the silicone used nowadays from car makers is heavy duty.

Fair enough.

Probably best to avoid melting the light in an effort to open them then! :giggle:

Just leave them as they are... pretty sure the angel eyes would look rubbish on the fabia anyway!
