No Electricity

Featured Replies

Hi,

I’ve recently bought a 1.4 MPI Fabia as a project car. When I got it, it ran well and start first time even after sitting for a while. I tried to start it at the weekend to change the oil and filter but it wouldn’t start not even the interior light would come on nor any of the lights on the dashboard. Initially I assumed a flat battery but I’ve tried jump starting it but nothing. Due to this I’ve ruled out the battery being the issue. Not sure if the sub-zero temperatures may have something to do with it?

If anyone has had this problem or knows what the problem might be please let me know.

Thanks!!

Welcome.

Depends how good the vehicle was do the lending of energy and the jump leads.

So did having a charge go through the cars dead battery give enough power for the interior light, or horn or indicators to work?

Best get a fully charged battery connected and see just what you have before going searching for the next potential issue and reason for no start

or turning over.

No, nothing electrical was working at all (lights, hazards, horn or radio).

Could be the leads.

Thanks!!

Remove the earth lead from the strut turret and clean it and the contact area.

Yeah, this SO is the battery that it's not even funny, take the battery off the car and charge it, if it won't charge then you need a new one.

Just an update for anyone reading this with the same problem. It was the earthing that was that cause no power. Thanks TMB for pointing that out as the possible cause!!
