Superb II Estate 170PS Elegance Manual

I drive the above motor mainly on A roads, mixture of short runs and around two 100 mile round trips weekly (around 1100 miles per month). Managing to average 54 to 55 MPG despite manufacturers published figures of around 48.7 MPG. Car has 17k on the clock and I am not particularly heavy footed but don't really hang about either. Strikes me this is pretty good for a car of this size and power. Any others have experience of this combination of body style, engine and gearbox? What sort of MPG is typical?

Cheers,

Cazmac

How are you calculating these figures? Have you taken them directly from the dash board figures, or actually calculated them from one fill up to the next? I own a CR 170 manual and actual mpg on long runs calculated through road trip on the iPhone is normally around 54 mpg so your figures seem about right. My actual average overall after thousands of miles has been calculated as 44.71 MPG

I'm seeing a real average of 45mpg without any effort on my part to save fuel. Trip computer says 50mpg average since new (4000 miles so far).

My commute is a mix of A, B, and Motorway.

Pretty impressive given the performance and the size of the car.

To be honest I haven't been working out the real mpg based on tank fills, simply going by what the trip computer states, assuming this to be reasonably accurate. Sounds like the trip computer overestimates real mpg. Average reading over the summer and autumn was about 54.7mpg but I have noticed a slight drop as the weather has got colder over the last couple of weeks. I only carry passengers during a small proportion of my motoring but carry a child seat and had the space saving spare wheel fitted as an option from new. All in all I'm pretty impressed. The 170 has plenty of punch in reserve if you need it and pulls strongly without the need for many revs.

I have a 170 cr elegance dsg estate and get 48mpg (brim to brim calculation on several tankfulls)

overall mixed driving (60% motorway) no effort to save fuel but driven with respect for engine.

had maxidot fuel readout adjusted as it was reading 10% happy.

Have tried to better this by using flappy paddles but failed......good fun though in sport mode

Yes the maxidot will typically read around 10% optimistic, your figures of just under 50MPG are about right for the car (mine is identical … including the child seat and spare wheel)

My total average over the last 26k (2 years) is just under 47MPG.
