Front lights

Featured Replies

Hi all, I picked up a new Octavia yesterday and worked out how most things work but there appears to be a bulb next to each front foglight. I've tried every switch, read the manual but can't get them to work. Any ideas please.

Do you have DRLs? If so it'll be the unused side light bulb ................. I think :D

Assuming you means the bulbs on the side of the headlight cluster then yes if you have separate DRLs I think the current legislations states you cannot have DRLs and separate sidelights on at the same time, in the Octavia the vRS headlight cluster is the same as non-vRS models, the Xenon option headlights also have these "spare" bulbs.

On the vRS the dimmed DRLs are the sidelights.

Suspect the legislation was to stop the proliferation of led lights being fitted all over the front of the car as well as the standard manufacturer DRLs.

Or do you mean you have some other bulbs at the bottom of the bumper near the foglights?

Looking to the outside of the foglight thats where the bulb is. No other switch for the lights other than the basic rotary one, no drls, no auto lights.

On a non-VRS isn't the DRL bulb in the foglights ?

If so do a search as there is a procedure to enable the DRLs using one of the stalks.

Deactivating the function daylight driving lights

– Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel up to 3 seconds after

switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it to the bottom and hold

it in this position for at least 3 seconds.

Thanks I'll try that when the wife gets home. Does that mean the lights will come on with the ignition and go off when I turn the main lights on with the rotary switch?

Daytime driving lights, same with mine, have tried the above (turn signal lever) and it does not work, think the dealer has to activate them.

I'd mine activated by the dealer. I chose the rear lights to come on as well.

Mine had to be activated by the dealer and now to turn them on or off use the method described as posted by "gsp".

When you turn your ignition on the DRLs come on and yes they are turned off when you use the rotary lights switch to turn on side/head lights.

As above, they are DRL's (daytime running lights).

They first have to be activated by a dealer.

Only then do the instructions in the manual to turn them on and off work.
