Coilovers and Drop link issue's

Featured Replies

What was the measurement from the bottom of the drop link to the wishbone mate? What car were the 250mm links off?

Yes 10 - 15mm sounds about right.

I don't know what car the drop links I used are from, all I do know is that they are mercedes ones.

I have to raise the fronts a little as the arch liners catch on full lock, so when the weather is a bit better I will get some measurements if I can.

Don't go giddy and raise it too much. Haha

I don't want to go too much anyway.

At the moment the front is a little lower than the rear, as I had to wind the adjusters up a bit at the back just to hold the springs in place at full droop.

I think another 5 - 10mm on the front will sort the issue's out.

So long as the tyres don't then start catching on the adjusters.

Cheers mate, getting bit of a knock from my front end thought it might be the ARB hitting the wishbone. Will get it checked out must be something else

Check your top mounts.

Whats the best way to check them? Sound like metal on metal noise?

visually, and watch them as you push up and down on car, there should be couple mm travel, and top retaining cup should be less than 10mm from the housing

Drop the strut out and take it apart.

If the rubber is badly worn or the assembly has come loose then there will be movement over bumps and you will get a metal knocking noise.

this is the proper way to do it, mine is just a cursory check

Thanks lads, will have a gander tomorrow see what i can see. Ive fitted superpros to wishbones, ARB and steering rack so guess theres good chance it could be the top mounts

or a loose bolt on the other parts you fitted

A couple of pics I took this morning.

Sorry I couldn't be arsed to take some propper pics as it was too damn cold to be messing about with cars. I just wanted to raise the front a little and get back in the warm lol.

Anyway here are the crap pics I did take.

All I know is the ones I used were 250mm Merc ones from GSF.

No idea which merc they were for though sorry.

How much did they cost you if you don't mind me asking?
