water ingress (not)... share my pain!

Featured Replies

So got back to the car after an afternoon drive and leaving it parked up for a couple of hours, passenger side misted. Got the carpets up on both sides, much swearing ensued as not a drop anywhere.

I have solar sunroof on Edition 100. Basically today was particularly sunny, cold and damp, so the sunroof worked its @$$ off dragging as much of that cold damp air into my cabin.

Great, so I can't even rely on the steam to know if I have sprung a leak! :wall:

Time to disable that little feature for the winter methinks...

I've had the same today and like you, no sign of water ingress. Not funny at all.

How do I know if my sunroof's a solar one?

Took about 15 miles of driving before the windows were completely dry.

you have a solar sunroof if you can't see through it, and the sunroof from the outside looks like a solar panel instead of a shiny piece of glass. See the photo here:

Make sure you've checked under the carpets and not just by touching the top. You can get literally litres under the carpet before it shows on top of the carpet, or even by touching the carpet.

Mine's an ordinary glass sunroof. I thought I had bells and whistles. Now I don't know whether to feel relieved or cheated!

Plenum chamber's dry and clear, and I can get my fingers underneath the floor air vents and feel bone-dry floorpan, so the search for damp goes on.

misty windows has to be a very very common thing doesnt it? Mine does it neighbours new juke does it, our bodies emit moisture, small amounts can cause steam

I guess. I taped up the contacts where the solar panel contacts the body and today I didn't get any though. In fact, driving around and looking at cars (went to a couple of retail parks) it does make you realise just how many cars are misted up in this kind of weather. I think the poor souls here who end up with lakes in the footwells actually have something more resembling a tropical rainforest on the windscreen! Was down at the car auctions the other day and saw a Passat which looked like it had been raining on the INSIDE of the windscreen lol

Just ban all breathing in the car haha
