bluetooth!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just got my 2009 vrs limited edition today and I love it!

Only problem is lack of Bluetooth. I have the bolero stereo, but no Bluetooth. What's the best way of getting Bluetooth into the thing? Is it a big job? What's the best brand to go for?

Thanks guys!

I'd go OEM - Eddie_Nl on this forum often has BT kits for sale at reasonable rates (c.£140). He'll also let you know if it is compatible with your phone and car.

If you don't mind a little DIY trim removal, you could buy the loom from CarSystems.pl (the link has SDS or voice control) for less than £40 delivered and the BT box from eBay then fit it yourself.

Just make sure that the BT box you buy gives you the functionality you want / need and is compatible with your phone. This is the only sticking point with this avenue, but it can save you around another £40 (about £100 in total).

This is the very latest version from CarSystems.pl. Email them before buying for their advice and then you have some comeback in case you have chosen (or I have suggested) the wrong part for youyr combination (I have very little info on your setup).

This is just what i have been looking for could not make mind up about going parrot or fiscon bluetooth.

So would I need to install the mic or does this already come with the car? Sorry for sounding a bit dim!

Can't comment on either Parrot or Fiscon, but both the operation and sound quality of the Skoda (VW) stuff is excellent. Best car kit i've ever had

I'd imagine that Parrot and Fiscon sound similar, given that the innards of a Fiscon are supplied by Parrot. Have just removed my Fiscon and have to say that taking it out was a LOT easier than installing, if I had to do it again I'd pay someone :)

Also, under the bluetooth module page, it states VAS/VCDS coding required. What does this mean?

It means that you'll either need to go to a dealer (expensive) or another Briskodian with VCDS (beer money) to get the full functionality activated by plugging a computer into your cars OBD port.

Ok, so is it quite a complex job then playing around with the VCDS?

I paid someone ;) my fiscon was fitted by richter sport in milton keynes - far easier than me messing around and swearing at the car (and breaking things).

I had a parrot in my old golf gti - stuck on the top of the dash with a sticky pad (it fell off eventually) and the screen was too small to read/use - awful thing. The fiscon in contrast is excellent - works just like oem via the touch screen bolero. It's more money than buying the oem bits and doing it yourself, but zero hassle.

Yes and no.

If you do it wrong you car might not drive... But unlikely when just adding BT module and coding it to work as it is a fairly straight forward job to do.

Rob, I have a Columbus, so if the Fiscon works like OEM with the head unit, it may be the way forward for me. Would you (or anyone else?) know if it works with the Maxidot and MFSW too?

Also. how much was the Fiscon fitted please? Many thanks!

Ok, so just had a look at the Fiscon site. Looks very good.

Can anyone help with the best way to get this fitted in the SW and with a guide price - fitted? Thanks!

My fiscon works via the maxidot but tbh it's harder to use than the bolero so i never use it that way. Can't comment ref the mfsw as I don't have one.

IIRC it was about 350 fitted?

Many thanks. I'll shop around. There seem to be plenty of mobile fitters offering a nationwide service.

Hi guys. Hope you don't mind me adding to this...

I made enquiries recently about adding BT to my 2012 vRS and here's the response I got from Fiscon...

"it is no problem to integrate bluetooth to your car.

You can order the following product: http://www.fiscon-mobile.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p4_FISCON-Plus-f-r-Volkswagen--Seat-und--Skoda.html

It will work with the Columbus and with the MFD+ in the tacho as well."

Looks a decent kit and, from the various bits I've heard, not out of it price-wise.
