thanks VRT24 i fitted a genuine Garmin hard wire kit with the jumper inside changed over to 12v as some have said that 11.6v is to low. the car was only used for short journeys so that has not helped. Mick

Thanks will have to look at getting a cigarette tester to see what’s happening to the battery. they still say my dash cam permanent feed killed my old battery which I’m find hard to believe Mick

Silly question after the trouble I had with my battery, Just asking what volts should the alternator put out as I check mine with a volt meter and on tickover I was only getting 13 volts across the battery could not check when reving the engine legs not long enough, should this not be more like 14volts? Mick

So it turns out that me fitting the parking mode cable to my car has damaged the battery so it’s not holding its charge now. £230 for a new battery and £39 to have them tell me and remove the permanent feed to the dash cam. hope to get the car back tomorrow and see how it goes from there, not sure if I fitted it incorrectly but follow what others have done on this forum seem like the battery was on its way out to start with but as I fitted the dash cam its down to me. Thanks VRT24 was thinking about getting a power pack and using that for when it’s parked Mick

Car went in today and apparently it’s my Garmin dash cam 65W with parking cable fitted that has flattened the battery low enough to up set the cruise control and the emission control system as I only had 9.1 volts in the battery, hey are disconnecting the permanent feed and charging the battery and resetting all the fault codes going to cost me as it’s not something wrong with the car but what I fitted. thought the Garmin parking cable did not drop the voltage down to far but turned off before then, not used the car that much due COVID. lesson learned I think Mick

Thanks Ken not home until Sunday going to give it another go and see what happens Mick

Further to this on Wednesday started car stopped it went to restart and the battery was flat only clicking the starter motor, jump stared it and batter seem good as it I have restarted a few time now but the emission control system light is on. Not sure this Is linked, would a flat battery cause this light to come on? need to drive the car Monday as no trains to get me to work could only book it in to marshals Skoda for Tuesday Mick

thanks for the reply’s Mine will not reset with turning the engine off and on again, sometimes resets but not that often got it booked in with Skoda a week on Monday, let’s see what they say Mick

First long drive in my new Karoq up to Yorkshire, after stopping at service’s cruise control would not reconnect and then over the next three day would work then would not, looks like it would not turn on. is this a problem? Going to give the dealer a call tomorrow to see what they say but wanted to see if others have gad the same problem. Mick

It looked like just water no smell and did not feel oily to touch. going to keep an eye on it and see if it’s keeps happening Micky

Noticed yesterday a damp patch under the back end of my 2020 Karoq, placed cardboard under over night and found it wet, looks like it was dripping from the end of the exhaust box car not been driven for two days and has only done short drives before that. Could it be water collecting in the back box due to the short drives? Micky

Fitting parking mode cable for Garmin 66W dash cam
scubamouse replied to scubamouse's topic in Skoda Karoq
Fitted the parking cable today used a mini piggy back fuse holder on fuse 6 and a normal piggy back fuse holder on fuse 47 I think. got a volt tester to check for a permanent live as the picture I found had different rated fuses that I have on mine -
I have looked through and lots of members have hard wired the netbase dash cam. i am looking to hard wire a Garmin 66W with the parking mode so going to need a permanent live as well as a switched live from what I have seen member use rear wiper fuse 47 with a piggy back fuse for the switched live, is there a permanent live I can do the same thing with for the permanent live? thanks Mouse
