Fabia vRS consoles

Featured Replies

Hi all

Had to remove both front suspension consoles from my car as the wishbone bolt has completely destroyed the thread in the console.

I'm wondering about part numbers:

Did the vRS have the same consoles as all other Fabia 1 models?

I have a part number for the console which I got from the main dealer which was

6q0199293j

But have seen consoles around with the last letter (J) replaced by a D or an E.

Could anyone please confirm whether the consoles ending D or E will fit my car please

Also there is an Audi part 1K0199295F

Could anyone let me know if that part fits please?

Any help is much appreciated as the car is off the road at the moment.

Thanks

Andy

I believe all the Fabia 1's and early Fabia 2's had the same bushes just lots of part number supersessions as they improved the part or at least got it from different suppliers. I'd wait for someone to confirm this though.

Ahhh OK...

been doing a bit of research and I think you could be correct

Only part numbers I can find are

6Q0199293D LH console

6Q0199293E LH console (ASZ engine only)

6Q0199294D RH control

Looking at my existing parts the both finish in a D so I'm thinking it should be OK to buy the LH part ending in a D for both sides

Hopefully someone can confirm

Thanks again

Andy

Yeah saying that I was more thinking bushes, but yeah I believe the consoles themselves are all the same between the engines and the only differences may be with the subframe that these attach to, as some have the exhaust downpipe running over it and others under it.

Sounds reasonable to me mate

Well that has certainly saved me a fortune

Thanks again

Hi all, having a nightmare with this job.

Bought 2 second hand consoles from a 1.2 Fabia. The have identical part numbers to the ones fitted to my car - but I have read somewhere else on here that the passenger side console should be different on the vRS which is a little confusing.

I fitted the Cupra bushes to both consoles. The flush side of the bush is fitted flush with the back of the bush housing in the console. Unlike the standard bush which is maybe 5mm shy of this.

According to the guide on here it says that the wishbone spigot should sit around 2-3mm proud of the bush - however I could only get mine to sit flush - is that correct?

It took me ages to get the bolts that go through the console and crossmember to meet up with the steering rack clamps. I had to hammer the ones on the passenger side as they just would not go. They are in now but (unsurprisingly) I may have cross threaded one of them. Not sure yet though.

The front wishbone bolt went in on the passenger side (the one through the crossmember > wishbone front bush > console). However on the driver's side the wishbone bush hole will not meet up with the crossmember to bolt in. I haven't tried hammering it too much to align it as not had time yet (was working on it very late last night).

Has anyone experienced this or had to fit the consoles from them both being removed?

Any advice would be much appreciated as I'm not too sure whether to strip it down again and try and align everything better or whether the bushes/wishbone fitment has caused an issue or if the actual console on the passenger side is the problem (which would surprise me as it is an identical part number to the one removed).

The part numbers for both consoles ended in letter D by the way

Thanks in advance

Andy

it took me a while to refit my consoles the other day after changing the bushs. i also had the same problem trying to get the wishbone bolt lined up to bolt to the console but found if i lifted the wishbone to get the bolt in the pushed the wishbone down once the bolt was in i could get it to line up although this did take me around an hour of trying and cursing to figure out so hope it helps.

The n/s console is different on the vRS. It has part of it cut away as the subframe is different to clear the diff on the six speed box.

Yea I read about that...in fact I'm sure it was a post from yourself. Just seems strange that the console I removed from my car was exactly the same as the one I bought from a 1.2. Bit confused about that.

I had many hours cursing too. Lol.

Thanks for both replies, much appreciated

Andy

That would be very strange as the console doesn't fit correctly as it fouls on the subframe.

You can modify a standard one to vRS spec, also a vRS one will fit anything else just fine.

Yea that is weird. Both fit in fine (apart from the misalignment problems). I've seen different part numbers floating about but the only difference is that last letter. And both the one removed and one fitted ended in the letter D. I'm confused.

Did you manage to get the spigot on the wishbone to protrude from the bush or does it sit flush with the back of the bush?

I'm assuming you kept the cupra bushes in the consoles you fitted?

Cheers

Actually no I didn't I fitted power flex bushes and cut one of the Cupra bush out of the console I used so the passenger side is still fitted ! I did this because I didn't have access to a press to put them in so I bought the power flex bushes originally for ease of fitting then I had the problems with the console so bout them too. Thus leaving me with both types but the power flex comes with a life time guarantee so I chose to fit them still. Although I think that it sat flush with the power flex bushes not that this helps but the power flex bushes are bigger as you have a lip both sides to hold it in

  • Author

Ok. That makes sense as I guess the powerflex bush sits flush with the back of the console as the cupra one does. And with the spigot on your wishbone sitting flush with the powerflex, suggests my wishbone is sat in the correct place. Cheers.

Actually reading that again maybe mine is not sat right.

from what i can work out aslong as the wishbone sits back in the steering clamp etc everything is ok as it doesnt give much room to be wrong so by the sounds of what your saying it all sounds fine to me

Sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for that mate

  • 5 months later...

Anyone have any ideas on where I can buy these consoles from for an 06fabia vrs , I can't find any cheaper than £100 quid each side!!

Any ideas, please? Even second hand from a breaker if people would recommend.

Thanks

I just paid £88 + vat per console. They are pretty chunky pieces of metal so I guess that's why they're pretty expensive.
