Rear Washer fault and boot inner plastic cover.

Featured Replies

Hi im sure im not the only one who has a fault with the rear washer jet. It doesnt spray any water on the window anymore, although i can hear the motor so im guessing its spraying water all over the inside of the boot liner.

Does anyone know of a guide to removing the inner plastic cover to get access to the pipe and nozzle to check for a split or if its come loose etc. Oh its a 55 plate Octavia VRS

Cheers

Undo the T15 screw under the internal dangly pull handle.

lever up one corner of the plastic liner using a plastic scraper or something (so you don't damage the paint) - put fingers in the slot and pull ... catch any of the metal clips that go flying ... careful not to split the liner where the lock is (you may need to start from the other corner too)

Before that flip up the hinged black plastic cap that covers the nozzle.

Pull on the nozzle (it simply pulls off from the spindle with a little effort) and give it a good clean. Better still blow it through with an air compressor or leave it overnight to soak in hot water and vinegar.

The nozzles are renowned for clogging.

Check the spare wheel well for screen wash and touch the carpet around the multichanger for damp patches, this will be a good indication of a split hose / failed conector.

Cheers chaps i was hoping for a link to a well established thread with possibly pictures but i got a torx set and the descriptions above should do the trick.

Cheers

ill let you know how it goes.

Although this temperature it will be difficult to tell if its worked or not

here is a quick guide to where the clips are

i removed mine to reattach the pipe to the back of the jet, and i seem to remember it been a bit of barsteward to remove and refit and also breaking a few clips.

dont be afraid to pull hard, it needs a bit of force to remove it and probably more patience than i have!

thannks

Any advice on how to do this? I gave it a cursory tug, didn't shift. It's not the arm, but the cap at the very end, covering where the arm is connected?

It is stiff and does take some pulling.

This isn't the exact one from an Octavia but the way it is clipped on is the same so should give you a better idea of where to pull!

Thanks, the picture did help me tell which way to lever from! I was able to check the nozzle, but it was clear. And the connection near the rear quarterpanel was also still good. I popped off the boot cover, and found the pipe had separated right under the nozzle. Working again, thanks.

Im guessing thats where mine has gone. Did you have any trouble getting the boot inner cover off without any cracks or broken clips etc. (Is there a trick or knack to it)

Is there anything that can be done to keep the pipe from sliding off the nozzle small tie wrap or jubilee clip.

I just ragged mine off, then glued the pipe on , been ok for a couple of years, glued the connection over the wheel arch as well , may well be worth checking there before you remove the liner mate.
